Nice grounds but VERY disappointing roomsPosted Nov 14, 2013
Pros: the grounds
Cons: cleaner on the whole bathrooms and update the room. firmer mattresses wider beds
Location: Surrey. lots of walks in the countryside
At first glance as we drove towards the hotel and the grounds looked really impressive. we got into our bedroom and first thing turned the heating on and it didn't work also bed felt very very soft so i called to reception they said all their beds were the same. they would send someone up to look at the radiator. a few minutes later a guy came up but didn't understand why radiator was not working, if it doesn't get hot in 5-10 minutes, call reception again. it didn't get hot and i called reception again. meanwhile we are sitting in this cold room with our luggage not able to do anything really. IT TOOK HALF AN HOUR UNTIL SOMEONE CAME UPSTAIRS WITH ANOTHER SET OF KEYS FOR A DIFFERENT ROOM! This room we were advised had a firmer mattress! (Oh, at first you said all were the same???!!!) I called it a glorified travel lodge room. there was really nothing to it. the bathroom old. no hooks to hang anything and all pretty basic. We did not feel pampered!!!!

Nice hotel in quiet surroundingsPosted Nov 8, 2013
Pros: The building, the grounds, the peace and quiet. Even with two weddings over the two nights we were there it was still a quiet place to stay.
Cons: Areas outside of the room are not particularly inviting. There is comfortable seating but the loop of hotel photos on the tv is monotonous.
Location: There are lots of places of interest to visit nearby.....National Trust properties and beauty spots.
The hotel is suitable for a quiet few days away and exploring the surrounding villages and countryside.

Lovely wedding venue but not for retreatPosted Oct 21, 2013
The grounds are lovely and this makes a lovely venue for weddings but the rooms for the guests are dated with the worst mattress I have slept on. Springs were so worn out making u roll around in bed givin no support. Rooms were also very stuffy. I also managed to dirty my hands on the Grease left on the door hinges. With a revamp of the rooms this could be a great hotel.

Country House retreatPosted Sep 28, 2013
Pros: Quiet set back from the busy A25. Pleasant staff impressive building.
Cons: A little updating here and there without destroying the timeless quality of the building and its surroundings.
Impressive building approached on long drive. Country house interior with ample rooms although comfortable were a little dated and tired in places. However this didn't overshadow the overall experience. Stayed just one night but would be happy to return next time we visit this part of England.

Great short breakPosted Aug 26, 2013 on Hotels.com
We had a 3 night get away. The hotel was clean, tidy, and well appointed. The pool was quiet and great to relax at the end of the day. Breakfast buffet was generally good, but staff service was inconsistent. Location is off the beaten track (with a few too many speed bumps), quiet and out of the way.

What a let down!Posted Aug 12, 2013 on Hotels.com
A return visit to the hotel saw me in a hot and unventilated room with noise from the corridor and neighbors slamming doors / coming back drunk to rooms. The fan we were given broke, the breakfast was inedible and uncooked, the juice watered down and the general staff lacking in any respect or interest. AVOID!!

Good hotel for price but air con is poor and bedrooms are a bit smelly!
