Comfortable Lodge in an unusual location

Posted Apr 4, 2015
Pros: That it was above a stables The lovely breakfast
Cons: Better signage on the main road/info on the Expedia site about it being Dunton Stables. Rad leading up to the Lodge/stables needs
Location: NEC is nearby and it's not far from Birmingham.
The Lodge was difficult to find in the dark as it was not made clear that it was Dunton Stables! The road leading to the Lodge was full of pot holes. The accommodation itself was very clean and comfortable and we loved the fact it was above a stables. The continental breakfast in our room was great with plenty of choice and lovely fresh fruit.

Lovely hotel - if you like animals!

Posted Mar 13, 2015
Pros: Animals! Lovely little bathroom, good breakfast.
Cons: No dog barking!
Location: Not much to do nearby but very convenient for the motorway etc.
I really enjoyed my stay! Definitely not as hard to find as everyone said - I arrived in the dark but as long as you remember to turn right at Lock Cottage you'll find it. I have a tiny car but a few potholes aren't really a big deal! Room was extremely clean, bed a little uncomfy but the brilliant shower made up for that! Breakfast arrived promptly at 7.15 as requested and was enough to feed 3 or 4 people. Dogs were very cute as I am a dog lover, but if you're not a fan maybe not... I even got to see the horses on my way to my interview in the morning which I loved.

Very convenient

Posted Feb 8, 2015
Pros: Very convenient and well priced.
Cons: For me, nothing.
Organised an overnight stay for a meeting the following day. Had no real problems in finding the accommodation despite being down a unadopted road. Very comfortable and clean. Excellent continental breakfast in the morning. A very easy relaxing welcome. A must for horse lovers. Had a very interesting chat with the owner in his cosy office next to the stables before leaving. Very enjoyable stay and would stay again when back in the area.

nice

Posted Dec 22, 2014
Pros: Charming place
Cons: Signage from the main road
Lovely, clean rooms with excellent breakfast. Nice setting especially if you like horses. Was woken up by the donkey/horse kicking noise but this is not surprising as the rooms are over stables so didn't mind too much. Room was nice and warm. I felt safe and cosy. The bathroom was very nice and spacious. The place could do with a clear sign from the main road as it was a bit of a challenge to find.

Very pleasant if you can find it.

Stayed here overnight while visiting the NEC for the weekend. Only about 8 miles away so ideal location. One problem however, as others have mentioned, is trying to find it in the dark. There is a lack of signs on the lane which also has very large potholes and puddles. Had to eventually phone the owner. You have to drive past Lock Cottage. Parked up but then took a while to work out where to go. I eventually found the steps leading to the rooms. Fortunately the owner was waiting for me. The room itself is very pleasant. Good amounts of tea and coffee. TV is terrestrial Freeview only, but there is good WiFi connection. So we streamed movies on my iPad. The only thing is that there are no chairs, so sitting is restricted to the beds. Nice hot shower. Soap pump provided, but no shower gel or shampoo. No alarm clock either, but I always take my own anyway. Although my son slept OK, I'm a light sleeper and the donkey below us was making quite a racket all night. So I had to resort to earplugs. We also had a 7 o'clock wake-up call from one of the donkeys, braying loudly. Continental breakfast was brought to us on a tray. Very nice. Plenty of it. More than we could eat. Owners seemed very pleasant. It was fine for one night, but I don't think that I would want to negotiate the lane everyday if I was staying there for longer.

Friendly accommodation at the end of a track

Posted Nov 23, 2014
Pros: friendliness and room
Cons: Track and noise
Location: NEC
Very kind owners waited up for us as we were very late getting there. Only thing we didn't realise was it was situated down a long track and with a low skirt on our car it did cause problems getting there. Our room was above a stable and there were donkeys around early morning. The room and breakfast was fantastic.

Very nice hotel for the price

Posted Nov 9, 2014
The room was a basic twin with en-suite and very clean. Breakfast was delivered to the room in the morning, which was a nice touch. Really can't find anything to complain about for the price.
