We had a fire alarm at 3.30am one night of our stay. The fire exit sinage is not clear, leaving us stuck and locked in the stairwell until we looked around for the exit through a basement. We where not greeted by any staff. No fire warden. Not even someone at the exit point to direct or meet patrons. We met in the foyer and were just told to go back to our rooms in over a speaker. The night manager or staff shoulf have met us and reassured us before we returned to our rooms. All the guests could talk about the next day was that we were lucky this was either a small fire or not one at all (we were never advised) as there would most certainly have been casualties. The Adina's fire plan and lack of communication in an emergency is completely below basic standards. I advise you make your own exit plan so you can be assured safety in case you need to evacate the property in an emergency. Unfortunately, the parts of the accommodation I enjoyed and would have recommended were over shadowed by the events during the emergency evacuation.

Loved the spacious apartment. The view was fabulous. Love the washer drier in the room. Invaluable when travelling. Staff really helpful. Just a few steps away from plenty of super restaurants and bars. Would highly recommend. Also stayed in the Adina in Brisbane. Equally impressive.

Please think twice about booking this property. I booked on 30 Nov 23 and explained we were travelling with my 83 year old mother and needed interconnecting rooms. I chased this request on numerous occasions and was given the run around. When we arrived on 4th March we were told that the hotel did not have interconnecting rooms which was a total lie and the best they could do was two rooms in the same corridor but by no means adjacent or interconnecting. The girl who checked us in could not have been more dis-interested in helping us if she had tried. When we saw the rooms we had to request a roll away bed so my mother could stay in our room and they had the cheek to try and charge us for it. Both rooms they gave us had a shower over the bath, and the bath was so high, my mother was unable to get into it, so she was unable to shower for the duration of our stay, there were also no safety handles. One of the rooms had a huge hole in the wall which had been patched up and not even painted. The mirror in the hall way was completly broken and had been taped up with blue masking tape, which was incredibly dangerous. Only positive was the location. Trip was completely ruined. If this is the best you can do to assist elderly guests you should be ashamed of yourselves.

Adina darling harbour rooms have a damp/mould smell, we moved rooms and smell was still there. We were told it was because they were close to the harbour. Rooms are decent size and mostly clean but would not stay again due to smell.

Rundown hotel with no maintenance. A/C does not work well and there was also thumping noise at night. The reception time lied about it saying it will go in 2-3 hours. However, it did not go the entire night and it was difficult to sleep. Would not ever stay here again or recommend anyone else to. There are multiple options that are better and similarly priced.

Great location, disappointing stay
The location is superb. The staff were friendly but unfortunately my room had no air conditioning. I made attempted requests to fix to no avail. I should have demanded a room change but expected that the problem would be resolved. I was disappointed with the wear and tear of the rooms we stayed in. There was mould in one of the bathrooms and the windows were dirty. One of the taps in the kitchen broke. There were tears in the loungeroom upholstery. For the price I paid I was disappointed. The staff tried hard but the air conditioning was not resolved which ruined my stay.

Central location right on King Street Wharf plenty of bars and restaurants within a few minutes walk. Captain Cook harbour cruises from the wharf. Nearest train & light rail at Wynyard just 12mins walk. Full laundry and kitchen facilities plenty of room to relax also a large balcony. Recommended

Room was clean upon arrival, but found the cleaners forgot to empty the bin under the sink, the room was very run down and needs upgrading, toilet roll holder was broken and there was water dripping from a vent when the Aircon was on in the bedroom, when we got back from watching the fireworks we found a cockroach in the room. When I asked to get the room cleaned, the cleaners did everything except for stocking up more toilet paper and vacuuming the floor. The view was spectacular though.

The location of the Adina is very good for almost all of the downtown locations in Sydney and the rooms are very large. However, the property is VERY tired, we had to move room as the washing machine and the safe (oldest safe I have ever seen) were broken beyond repair. The bed in both rooms was old, creaky and uncomfortable. At one point the hotel ran out of towels, the old ones were removed from our room so we had nothing at all to shower or wash our hands with. The cleaning was very poor (I was told that they used a 3rd party contractor who clearly does the absolute bear minimum and maybe even less!) and we had to request extra cleaning as nothing had been done for several days. Nothing was hoovered for 5-6 days at a time. The pool and gym area were functional, but again, very old and tired. We would not stay here again, which is a shame as the location and room sizes could see this property as a very desirable one. It needs a lot of money being spent on it to make it a nice place to stay (we stayed for 12 days across Christmas and the New Year). The final sad story was meeting a very stressed resident in the lifts on Christmas day with his arms full of dishes full of vegetables for cooking. His cooker had broken (seems like a theme!) and he was having to cook in a different room on different floor! Ah well.....

We have stayed here on a few occasions, however this time we felt it was very outdated..we had a kichen, but had no bowls,dishes to use in the microwave, can openers and only a frypan..this had an oven and a microwave, but you couldn't cook in it even if you wanted to..As it was Christmas time we would have liked to cook our lunch ,but had to go to the local cafe around the corner to eat.. This was clean and had fresh towels everyday.. Close to Darling harbour, but a hill walk to the city..not that i felt was a problem as your out of the way were you stay.

The location was ideal. We found everything to be within walking distance including The Rocks and the Opera House but there is also a tram nearby. We travelled as a family and even when it rained we had the aquarium and the wildlife zoo right on our doorstep. The apartment itself was comfortable, albeit dated, and the room was cleaned daily.

Location is excellent to walk to Darling Harbour. Room was clean. A bit disappointed in condition of room - cupboard door did not close properly, room looked very tired. Air con works, but sounded like a noisy fridge. Only one cup, glass etc available. Given it was an extremely hot weekend it would have been helpful to have a small jug or at least 2 glasses so we could place in fridge to have cold water available. Most other places I have stayed provide a small bottle of water for guests, so I was a bit surprised to find nothing ready for us on arrival when we are in heat wave conditions.

I have been charged for a wine stain on the carpet that was not me. I don’t drink wine but it’s obvious that the incompetence of the staff member that cleaned and checked the room before I arrived missed it then I have been charged for it. Even trying to explain my story meant nothing to them, just blew me off like they didn’t care what I had to say. Will never attend Adina again.

Overall it is a good place to stay. An affordable option for darling harbour, and within approx 10 minute walk to trains and ferry options. Could it be better? Yes - but you would expect to pay more too. The room is comfortable and spacious and clean. The kitchen was equipped with the basics and handy for us travelling with a toddler. Meant we could have meals in the room as well. There are a lot of bad reviews and I don’t think they’re fair. For a good location, standard & comfortable room, this suits well. The pool area is great along with the little gym. We would stay again on return to Sydney. Small con but easily rectified was the towels/house keeping. We weren’t always given fresh towels but easily solved. Friendly staff and they happily stored our luggage when we arrived early. Worth it for the price (when we booked it was significantly cheaper than anything else in the darling harbour area - especially as an apartment style vs hotel room)
