Good value in great location.Posted Nov 24, 2013
Cons: A little run down.
Location: Wine bars, coffee shops and restaurants abound.
Motel type walk-up accommodation in Surry Hills, arguably the most interesting area of Sydney. Service is good, and security for this area of the city more than adequate. Despite it's central location, did not notice any city noise at night, and slept well. A great little coffee shop downstairs with a nice selection of light meals freshly prepared, but spoiled for choice of places to eat nearby.

Very small "deluxe" room, crocoach included. Only positives are free internet and location

Nice hotelPosted Aug 26, 2013 on Hotels.com
The hotel provides a nice pleasant stay. The manager was really helpful and they provide a collection of free DVDs. The room is rather basic but works perfect for someone wanting an inexpensive place to stay in a nice location.

Fabulous location!Posted Aug 22, 2013 on Hotels.com
City Crown Motel is in possible the best spot in Surry Hills, close to all that Surry Hills has to offer, 5 minute to Central station, 5 minute walk to Oxford Street and a fabulous little cafe on the ground floor! The staff are lovely and very helpful. The rooms are older style but clean and comfortable, felt very old school European actually which I liked.

Quaint Place in Greenwich Village-like localePosted Aug 20, 2013 on Hotels.com
The City Crown is aptly a 3-3.5 star rated motel. Not luxurious by any means but a nice place nonetheless. If you like a young, hipster, NYC Village setting, the the CC motel is perfect for you Bohemians. Unfortunately, my wife and I are not, so we had to tolerate the low roar of the street crowd outside our beautiful balcony. The room is bit cramped with its oversized tv stand/dresser taking up a large footprint. The mini-fridge is loud so we unplugged it at night. The bathroom is super tiny for an average size man like me. Whoa be unto larger folks using its tiny tiny sink! The front office/desk is staffed by very friendly managers. Wifi is free all day, but I suspect the locals have the passwords that causes our connection to be super slow during peak hours. The motel is close to all public transportation and 30 minute walking distance to Chinatown, the Rock, and the Sydney Harbour. Worth the stay if you don't mind the evening crowd and traffic noise.

Great Location for surePosted Jun 25, 2013 on Hotels.com
I had a great time at The City Crown & tho the rooms are a little tired they were clean enough & the location is fanatstic & suprisingly quiet. Staff are friendly & helpful but servicing of the room was sporadic & very tight. No extras left without asking & terrible pillows! Great for short stays. Mine was lengthy & I did eventually settle in nicely. I feel a little overpriced however.

Great located hotel in Surrey HillsPosted Jan 29, 2013
Cons: No phones in room even though guest info refers you to dial 9 anytime for assistance. Fire escapes??
Location: Great location, see above.
A comfortable, clean hotel, a little dated but nevertheless clean. Very helpful and friendly staff. Air con was extremely noisy and blasted you out of bed but a welcome relief from the heat. I'd recommend this hotel based on cleanliness combined with location - a really easy walk to mid town where access to trains, monorail and buses was easy plus easy walking to main areas eg. Opera House, Circular Key, Darling Harbour, shopping in CBD and lots of groovey cafes etc nearby. Would stay here again for that reason

Some lights did not work. Air conditioning was questionable. Bathroom too small. Bed felt like sleeping on a camel. Staff were friendly.

FORGET CITY CROWNPosted Nov 22, 2012
Pros: Closeness to Oxford Street
Cons: Small noise, and sufficating
The room was small and wasn't to me what appeared in the photos on their site. The room light was so low that it was impossible to read, and being right on the street the noise forced you to keep the sliding door closed thus heating up the room
