Historic hotel in key locationPosted Dec 12, 2013
Pros: Good location
Cons: Parking not clear online -- parking is down the street in an underground public carpark with no in and out priviledges - hotel cost is $40 per day
Location: Good location within walking distance of ferries to beaches and suburbs, walk to Sydney Bridge and Sydney Opera House, street markets, restaurants
Inconvenient for parking and baggage - have to use public carpark down the street underground with no in and our priviledges at the hotel rate of $40 per day, otherwise $90 per day if you go in and out - have to bring baggage by yourself from carpark to hotel and inside hotel there are levels of steps to get to rooms. Very helpful staff and good room cleaning. Bathroom was very clean. Security of double doors from room to outside patio was weak and needs improvement. In room safe was advertised but not present (it had been removed some time previously).

Great tourist location in SydneyPosted Nov 26, 2013
We enjoyed the hotel, especially for it's prime location. We arrived in Australia via cruse, which docked two blocks away. We were within walking distance of many great sites including Darling Harbour. Within an easy walk to bus, train and ferry transportation. We did have a problem with the AC unit making noise (which was never resolved), other than that everything was fine. Overpriced maybe, but everything in Sydney is overpriced...

DisappointedPosted Oct 20, 2013
Location: Great location.
Surprisingly, this hotel does not have an elevator. It can thus be difficult to reach your room or the restaurant in the basement if you have a physical disability. The hotel staff, however, were very helpful in taking baggage to and from our room. The walls of our room were painted black. This made for a dismal ambiance, particularly since the lighting in the room was not strong. We expected better for the price.

Loved almost everything about this hotel. Rooms are not huge... and ours took a while to be cleaned so upon arrival we could not check in for some time. That aside - wonderful spot for a romantic getaway. Boutique feel and great service.

Harbour Rocks Hotel review - 7 Aug 13Posted Aug 11, 2013
Cons: Poor bathroom
Location: Easy walking distance to many Sydney offices and facilities.
Check out was slow - they said they would e-mail my receipt but nothing received so far. Not having an elevator is a bit of a pain - due to planning/heritage restrictions. I got an upgrade which was nice but the TV did not work properly and the bathroom is very basic and looks old - only a shower. Only shades and no curtains - would have been a pain if one wanted to sleep in. When in the lobby, I heard someone call down to complain and ask for curtains! Should have been higher spec. Good location. Trying to punch above its weight and somewhat overpriced for what it is. It is meant to be a boutique hotel but is not finessed enough.

Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your experience at Harbour Rocks Hotel. I am disappointed to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations. At Accor Hotels, we strive to provide a superior service experience for every customer; therefore your feedback is very important to us. Please rest assured that we are taking the appropriate measures to address the problem and prevent future occurrence. I am a little perplexed as to your comments regarding curtains. All of the rooms have sheer curtains with a roller blockout. I apologise that you did not notice these. We are currently training 3 new staff members on the front desk and I would like to apologise for the delay you experienced on check in. Hopefully they will be up and running in no time and this issue will not recur. I hope that you will accept our apology and allow us the opportunity to show you this level of service is not indicative of the usual high standard at our hotel. Regards Managment

LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION!!Posted Aug 4, 2013
Pros: Extremely helpful and welcoming staff. They know the area well and only too happy to assist you in any way they can.
Cons: Breakfast Menu - Previously self-serve, now limited selection and woeful!
Location: Handy to public transport - train, bus & ferry.
As we have stayed at Harbour Rocks several times before, we again found the Reception Staff so welcoming and accommodating, their service rates 10/10 in our view. However, their menu for Breakfast in their Restaurant leaves much to be desired. Their presentation lacks a lot, bircher muesli - I would rate 1/10!! it was syrupy with very little fruit, and tasted yuk!!. Service to the room, again was exceptional, we requested a single bed and had it delivered to the room with 5 minutes with a gracious smile. Location - So handy to all forms of public transport and walks around the Rocks and Circular Quay area and the Rocks Market precinct - we will be back!!
