No "free parking". Only 3 spots.Posted Nov 28, 2013
Cons: If 'free parking' is offered when booking, it must be provided. 'Frist in, best dressed' is unacceptable!!
Upon arriving to HIgh Cross Park Lodge, friend and I drove around the back to where there was allegedly 'free parking'. There were no spots available. We had driven 3 hours and had booked the accommodation based on the fact that it provided parking. After an hour of the receptionist being on the phone to see if she could find a parking spot (upon which we'd been left outside in the rain under an umbrella and had to go and find the receptionist again ourselves), we left and booked ourselves accommodation elsewhere. The receptionist claimed they provided no such thing as free parking and when provided with a printed email confirmation of our booking and the Expedia website which said others, she simply repeated to us that they didn't offer it. She suggested we wait around to see if someone left to take a spot, or that we could find a park across the street on a busy road, and lastly that we could pay $15 for parking a block away. We found this unacceptable and said that we would be cancelling our booking as they were not provided the services that we had booked with. She claimed a cancellation was impossible, whether they were providing what was offered or not. Having a brand new 3 week old car and having travelled 3 hours to our accommodation, we were not willing to accept that there was nowhere for us to park as stated in our confirmation email. We were chared for the accommodation without checking in. We went to the Sheraton on the Park instead - it was delightful!

Basic, very comfortable, excellent locationPosted Nov 21, 2013
Pros: Price, location, single rooms with ensuites.
Our group of seven in Sydney on business. This hotel was exactly what we were looking for. Very comfortable rooms with ensuites in an excellent location, at the right price. We plan to return next year.

August 2013 stayPosted Aug 11, 2013
Pros: Good location, halfway between airport and downtown. Quirky and charming, it reminded us of hotels in London where we've stayed. Very helpful staff!
Cons: Adding an elevator. Expensive, but lugging our suitcases up the stairs was difficult. Nice bathroom, but shower leaked out on the bathroom floor.
Location: Great location, half way between airport and downtown. Pretty park and small stores nearby. The Opera House area in Sydney is great, good nightlife!
A charming small hotel, unfortunately without an elevator. Very friendly and helpful staff. It didn't seem like the greatest value for the money, but we didn't price many hotels in the area.

Great hotel to start your holiday fromPosted Jul 23, 2013
Pros: Cooking facilities and excellent en suite.
Great base of you're just arriving in Sydney. Excellent location, close to shops, amenities, transport etc and not far from the airport.. Quite simple rooms, but sink kettle and fridge much appreciated and there's a shared kitchen. Bathroom is wonderful esp off a long flight (best shower I've ever used). Would recommend to those arriving in Australia and intend to travel. Great alternative to hostel as you have more security and convenience while you find your feet.

An affordable quiet, air-conditioned safe space.Posted Jul 19, 2013
Pros: affordable, walk to UNSW, quiet, safe. Lovely clean linen. Friendly staff (Julie:). Charming park opposite, shopping, dinner venues ("Cookhouse"!)
Cons: My room felt a bit pokey but very reasonable rates. Initial musty smell. No easily accessed mirror in room!! Small very high mirror suit tall people.
Location: Excellent for my purposes!!! Conference UNSW
My room was quite small but clean, warm (winter), quiet and safe. It was good value for the price and satisfied my purposes. I was out a lot. If I was intending to spend more time in I would choose a larger room.

reviewPosted May 11, 2013
Cons: as detailed above
There is a free-standing wardrobe that takes up too much room. A built-in robe would be much more suitable. My biggest complaint is- there was only one bedside lamp, making it very difficult to read in bed.

DisappointingPosted May 5, 2013
Paid extra for small double room to get free parking. The parking was out in the street across the road. Room small, beds small.

a good place just to crashPosted Apr 9, 2013
i liked it, it was close to where we needed to be and was a good price. the room was quite small especially for 2 people but the bathroom was good. There isnt a kitchen in the room just a sink and counter with toaster and kettle burthere is a shared kitchen which isnt so ba, it just took me by surprise. all in all it wasn't so bad. if you just need a cheap place to crash in ots prettyuch everything you need.
