The best view in Sydney for the best price

Posted Aug 3, 2014
Pros: The views are the best thing Also there are 2 computers near reception for free use of the internet The staff were very helpful
Cons: Amend the windows so that you can only open them a little
Location: There is a Woolworths nearby It is a trek from the nearest station but there are buses close by A good long walk to the Opera house
We had a room on the 9th floor and this is the highest and the best The higher the better to get the best views of the Opera House and the Harbour bridge Our room had a kettle, toaster, 2 ring cooker, a microwave and a fidge with an ice box so that you could cook simple meals in your room We had a fold up bed as our 4th bed so it was a little cosy but we managed You could open the winows quite a lot which was a bit crazy for the 9th floor and there was air conditioning if needed

Good location but smallish room.

Posted Jul 29, 2014
The extra paid for a harbour view was good value. The room was smallish and fittings a little dated and there was no easy chair. Minimal room in kitchenette. No sport coverage on TV so had to go out to watch rugby game. The staff were all excellent. Handy to shops and bus.

Visiting son while studying abroad

Posted May 29, 2014
Pros: The location was great and the staff was amazing.
Cons: The noise level in the rooms.
My son was studying in Brisbane for 7 months, so my daughter and I decided to visit him. After a week in Brisabane, we decided to spend a few days in Sydney before heading home. The hotel staff went out of their way to help us navigate around town. They made invaluable suggestions and were available when we needed questions answered. Unfortunately, we felt the room was not up to par. We could hear alot from rooms around us. In fact a portion of the ceiling tile was missing which I believe made for less noise reduction. The bathroom was laid out poorly. The sink over shot the shower by about a foot. The shower head was very low and there was an actual "lip" to get into the bathroom which caused a few trips in the middle of the night. That being said, the location was excellent - right across the street from a supermarket and down the block from the bus stop. I do find the photo in their ad to be misleading as the Sydney Harbor Bridge and Opera House were about a 35 minute walk from the hotel and no where within sight - although I DID have a beautiful view of Sydney Harbor from my room.

Another great stay at The Macleay

Posted May 26, 2014
Pros: Position and views.
Location: Lovely restaurants, cafes, delis & some interesting shopping. It's a short walk to Woolies supermarket and King's Cross station. Easy harbour access
Our recent 2 night stay with our adult son at The Macleay was great. We love the hotel's location and of course the view from our Harbour View rooms was again sensational although this time it wasn't as spectacularly sensational as the view from our previous stay. I love the fact that you can open up the wide windows and don't need aircon. The rooms are clean and have everything you need. They're not luxurious but the views and the hotels wonderful position in Potts Point make up for that. We'll definitely return.

Ideal location for access to everywhere/everything

Posted May 14, 2014
Pros: Everything
Cons: The standard of paintwork in rooms
Location: The position is perfect for visiting the Opera House, the Bridge, free bus stops right outside and Kingscross tube is only 5 mins up the road.
Perfect from the word go. All staff very professional and very pleasant and helpful. Location couldn't be better, our room had a marvellous view over the harbour - what more could you want when you wake up. Contemporary room decor although paintwork not been re-painted and looks rough.
