“Convenient”
My husband and I recently traveled to Sydney for just a short time and we wanted a hotel that was convenient, affordable and had at least a fridge. This hotel met our expectations. Couple things to note: 1. Yes - it is down what looks like an alley. But we did not find it all that disconcerning. The overall area was well maintained, even if the view out our window was not spectacular (say hello to office buildings!) 2. This is a "no-frills" type of place. If you want luxury, stay someplace else. If you want functional and affordable, sign on up. 3. If you want good food, but are exhausted and don't want to walk (or it's raining), take a Right when you step outside and go next door to the Japanese restuarant. **You'll almost need to make a reservation (booking)** Do that before you head out for a day on the town. 4. If you continue to the right and make a turn at what Looks like the dead-end, you will see a magic shop. Go Past it and you will find yourself on Pitt - which to the left has Lots of shopping options and will take you right to the monorail stop and to the right will take you right to the harbour. 5. If you book the airport trasportation, (and this is my #1 complaint) you have to haul your own luggage about 50 yards up Hosking's narrow sidewalk to Castlereaugh. Like I said above, if you want fancy, go somplace else, but if you just need a place to crash at night after taking in the sights and sounds of the city, then you will probably be just fine here!
“Will stay here again”
Good value and well located one-half block from to St. Martins Place in central business district. QVB and department stores three blocks away. Five blocks to Ferry terminal, (Circular Quay) and opera house. Comfortable/clean apartment with well appointed kitchen, dishwasher, etc. Pleasant desk staff and management. Only drawback for some may be that the entrance is off street in an alley - not a problem for us. Best accommodation in my eight trips to Sydney..
“vivianjann”
the hotel was nice and locale great. However, the cleaning crew never cleaned unless asked which I find difficult to handle. No one never told us there was a weight/exercise room, so I we were unable to utilize that facility. The folk were nice and helpful with directions. The hotel is situated in the financial area near the wharf, but down an alley way with absolutely NO view and lots of truck/garbage pick-up noise very early in the mornings. That would be the main reason for not selecting to stay there again.
“Medina Martin Place”
Everything about the hotel was great. We were on the 1st floor and had some noise during one night from the alley. Upper floors are a better choice.
“Great Location”
This place is in a great location in the CBD of Sydney. It's an easy walk to the Harbour, The Rocks and all the shops and restaurants on Martin Place. The price is quite reasonable and the rooms (apartments really) are large. A review I read said that the fact you had to go down an alley to get to the front door was somewhat disconcerting. It is true at first but it is really quite safe. I would suggest printing a map of the area because not all cab drivers know about this place. I had to give mine directions and then talk him into driving down Hosking Place which, at first, he was unwilling to do. Great deal for the money.
“Good Location ... but not worthed”
Good location, close to all the major atractions, but the hootel entrance is located on a small alley, with not much light at night. The rooms were dark, and did not have the feeling to be a 4 stars hotel.
“great location”
This hotel is located within walking distance of the Sydney Opera House, Harbor bridge, and many interesting neighborhoods. Coffee shops and restaurants nearby---but food is expensive! The hotel was very pleasant.
“Convient and Comfortable”
The Medina Classic is a wonderfully situated Hotel. No great views but the price was right and it is in the heart of town, close to the train and other tourist things We loved having an apartment where we could prepare meals and just hang out after a really long day of walking and sight seeing. We wished there was WIFI but it was vacation after all, who needs to check their e-mail. The rooms were cleaned nicely each day. We almost never waited for the elevator the whole week we stayed. The staff was friendly and helpful. I would stay at the Medina classic again.
“Great family hotel/apartment”
I traveled to Sydney over Christmas with my wife and 4 kids. We reserved 2 rooms and asked when making the reservation for 3 things. Two rooms next to each other, high floors because I read noise can be a problem with the lower floors and an early check-in since our United flight was arriving around 8am. They granted all 3 requests and were all extremely friendly. The location is great, an easy 5 minute walk to the harbor. There is a very large grocery store 2 minutes away and numerous restaurants to choose from in the immediate area. The staff will book excursions and are very knowledgeable. The internet worked great and the TV has a marginal selection. There is no swimming pool even though one was advertised on Expedia. They have an agreement with another Medina hotel in the area for the use of a pool. I would be very happy to stay at this hotel/apartment again in the future.
