“Sydney Great Location”

Medina is right next to Sydney Central Station, excellent to both go anywhere within Sydney and outside Sydney. The hotel staff also goes to great lengths to assist with your stay.

“Incredible overall value”

We arrived early at the hotel and although our room was not ready we were able to leave our luggage with the staff in the lobby. When we came back later in in the day our luggage were waiting in our room and we were happy not to have to do this ourselves.The hotel was located right next to Central station from where you could take the train virtually everywhere. There were bus stops right in front of the hotel and Paddy;s market and Chinatown within 1 or 2 blocks. Despite all these I did not hear any street sounds from inside our room. CBD was within a few bus or rail stops of the hotel and Darling harbor was within walking distance. Although the internet access from the hotel itself was pricey I simply went outside the hotel everyday with my iphone and used the free internet from the cafe attached to the hotel and ended up not even paying for hotel access as I had planned to do. The rooms were very comfortable. We had 2 bedrooms with a kitchen, 2 bathrooms and a washer and dryer in the bigger bathroom. There were plates, pots and utensils provided and these were completely adequate for our purpose. The rooms were cleaned daily and linens changed. The hotel staff were very helpful and helped us with directions and whatever we needed. Our Australia experience was wonderful and the hotel was a positive experience and I will definitely stay here again I recommend the hotel without any reservations. I truly cannot wait to go back

Area recommendations

Darling Harbor was my favorite due to the activity, night life and various attractions. There is a wharf there as well as the Aquarium, wildlife world, the maritime museum, Chinese Garden of Friendship and various other activities and night life and restaurants were spectacular. Circular quay is a close second. The Opera house is located here and also the main ferry terminals. It is always bustling and it is right in the middle of CBD. If you like shopping and relatively cheap products Paddy;s market is a must. Be aware however that it is open Wednesday to Sunday only and like most places close at 5pm.

Getting around

We bought the one week My Multi 3 ticket at $57 each and I believe it is a great value. Of course it is not valid for the airport but basically useful everywhere else within the city and also to the Blue Mountains, Featherdale, Parramatta, Manly Beach and Bondi Beach and the Olympic Park without paying any extra cent. It includes unlimited bus, train and ferry rides within a 7 day period.It excludes the Monorail and the light Rail but you truly don't need this with all the other options. Although there is a free 555 bus that goes thru Central Station to CBD and this could also be used but the operating time was limited. We used the See Sydney Card which is also a tremendous value especially because we went with our 17 to 21 year old children and we were able to take advantage of almost all the activities offered although we opted not to buy the transport option and bought the Multi3 separate. If you are spending at least 5 days the 7 day ticket is the way to go.

“Good location next to Central Train Station”

The good: Great staff. Clean rooms. Not noisy. Adjacent to train station, making it convenient to SYD Int'l Airport and intracity public transportation. The bad: The Haymarket area did not have restaurants we were interested in. It is a Chinatown area and there is an inner-city street atmosphere. We found it a little bit dirtier than the central area. It is a young backpacker demographic.

“Excellent”

2nd time staying with Medina - consistently excellent - why would you book a hotel room when you can get a Medina apartment - would recommend to everyone, everyting perfect - no complaints

“A little deceiving but overall great for the price”

Our stay was made very comfortable, however there were a few problems with our room. We were staying in apartment with a "queen" bed, which was literally two twin beds pushed together, not fun waking up in the crack. Also neither of the television remotes worked, luckily we were not their to watch television. The room was clean, and the hotel staff friendly. Overall it was a nice place to stay on a budget, not sure if i would classify this as a four star hotel though. I was also under the impression that the hotel had free wi-fi, and this was not the case in-room. The cafe in the lobby has free wi-fi, but the limited hours and inconvience were an issue.

Area recommendations

Medina Grand Central was an excellent hub for getting all over the city of Sydney.

“Nice Hotel”

Very nice room that included a small kitchen with upstairs bedroom and bath. Great view of the city and pleasant balcony. The only issue taken is that the next door room was making too much noise for most of the night.

Be sure to spend time in Hyde Park, the botanical gardens & the Potts Point area. Sydney is a beautiful city with a very friendly population.

“Well Situated”

the hotel is within walking distance of the Opera House and wharf. my room was nice and quiet, clean. a friend had a suite on the top floor and had problems with people partying all night in the room and balcony next to his though.
