“Very good value in Sydney”

The hotel is well located within walking distance of Sydney´s main attractions, price is reasonable, some rooms have a view of the harbour, there is a nice small pool and a basic gym. The room was very clean and well equiped.

“Good location for first timers”

Almost everything is within walking distance. Darling Harbour which is close by is home to restaurants and shops. Next door is the Sydney Wildlife Park and Sydney Aquarium. Walk to the largest IMAX, Sydney Tower, or even Chinatown. Also take advantage of the full kitchen. There is a grocery store a few steps away on Shelley Street. Sydney can be expensive...

“Very Good Stay”

Overall a really great stay. Medina has probably the 2nd best location in Cairns, which is awesome. The Medina and Shangri-La are both right on the harbor. We had a small but very clean and comfortable room overlooking the harbor. It was only a small upgrade to get a harbor view, and I highly recommend it! All of the dive boats in Cairns are just steps away from the Medina, and the best restaturant in Cairns is just a short stroll to the end of the harbor. (Restaurant is "Salt House" - highly recommend that too)

“Beyond all expectations”

We arrived at the hotel early after disembarking our cruise ship 2 blocks away and the staff worked at getting our room ready very promptly. We were pleasantly surprised to see what a wonderful neighborhood we were in...right next door to the aquarium and other attractions plus a neverending choice of restaurnts right on the waterfront. The accomodation was very comfortable and the kitchen very adequate...only a coffee pot missing. We would definitely request this hotel whenever we return.

Darling harbour....multitude of attractions and close walking distance to business district.

Getting around

We purchased a weekly pass good for busses, trains and ferries at a very inexpensive rate. We used the ferry boats most times with the shuttle to Circular Quay most frequently. From C.Q. we took feries all over the harbour including Manley.

“Exceeded Expectations”

Hotel was very conveniently located. Short walk to Cicular Quay and the buses/trains to anywhere. Staff was most helpful and friendly. Would stay again -really good value.

Area recommendations

By the harbour was better for us than Circuar Quay. We liked the atmosphere of the harbour and boardwalk around harbour. PLenty of restaurants from which to choose. Felt very safe joggin in the AM.

“a deal in Sydney”

The Medina was an excellent deal, compared to other hotels near the Sydney CBD. It was clean, the room pleasant, and within easy walking distance of all the places we wanted to go. Please note that we were walking - if you have a car, its not the easiest place to get to due to the 1-way streets in the area.

“Location wa great...but”

The location of the hotel was excellent. Everything that Darling Harbour has to offer is within walking distance. Upon check-in the staff were excellent. However, after refuting some mini-bar charges to our account, they were later processed to our credit card after we were assured they wouldn't be. We didn't inventory the list upon check-in, and I think it may not have been checked in-between guests. Just something to watch for if you stay here. The heated pool was not heated, but the location made up for the other dissappointments.

“Excellent Hotel!”

We were extremely pleased with this hotel and the service. We arrived early and the staff offered to hold our bags until our room was ready which was a big help. They also rushed to get our room ready much earlier than their normal check in time. The staff was more than happy to help us out with any questions and requests that we had. It was a pleasure to stay at this hotel with such nice and sincere people! It was a very warm welcome for us to Australia!

“Medina Grand Harbourside”

Great location and very decent rooms, but don't expect to get a decent view. Also, it can be quiet noisy on the weekend with all the bars and clubs being not located too far away from the hotel. All in all very good value for money.

Traveler's tip

Try and make sure you get a high floor room and a room facing the harbour side.
