Nice city hotel

Posted Sep 13, 2014
Pros: Very clean room, stylish furnishings, bathroom amenities, wifi, tea making facilities, good shower, quiet even though it's on busy George St.
Cons: The only down side was the size of the room - it was a bit tight for my partner and I and our overnight bags
Location: Very convenient location near World Square and Chinatown, bus stop at the front door and close to Central Station
It was pleasant to return to this hotel, and the hotel left a thank you note and chocolates on the bed.

Characterful hotel in lively location

Posted Sep 12, 2014
The hotel is well located for the train station and Darling Harbour. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. The hotel is in an old building, so is characterful. Our rooms was relatively crowded with a double bed and bunkbeds for the children, but we managed with the space. The location in Chinatown was fun, and we found lots of great local restaurants. We enjoyed our stay!

Awesome base in Sydney!

Posted Aug 26, 2014
If you are looking for fancy facilities you won't be finding it in this small hotel. However, if you are looking for somewhere affordable with a great location, this is it! This location allows you to walk everywhere (circular quay, Syd opera house, fish market, surry hills, haymarket etc) under 30 mins. If you are lazy just take bus! Beds are comfortable and security is good, after 10pm, you gotta press the bell on the right hand corner of the main door for them to open the door for you if you have forgotten the number code to enter the hotel. The recept staff are all very kind, knowledgable and efficient with what they are doing. They also have a very nice guest lounge which we did not utilize as we were mainly out and about exploringn the city. I would definitely stay here again for something affordable and fuss free in a city like Sydney.

Cramped. Noisy. Draughty.

Posted Aug 25, 2014
Family of 4. 5 nights mid August booked in April so plenty of notice given. Ages of children noted. Booking confirmed 'Family Room triple'. Arrived to a room next to both reception and main staircase so everyone's movements could be heard (particularly on weekend). Room contained a double bed, less than 3ft from door, and bunkbeds less than a foot away from that! With one case on the floor space was at a premium-the fact we had 4 meant you needed to go outside to change your mind!! The view?? Obscured safety glass so couldn't see out but Sunday morning revealed we were next door to a church on one side and a men's refuge on the other. No lock on the bathroom door, a shower you needed to dance around to get wet in, limited two electrical sockets and a gap of at least an inch beneath entrance door added to the list of negatives. On the plus side, great location, adequate lounge facilities, free wifi, a laundry, and above a Chinese bar/restaurant. If you can afford it, stay elsewhere. Ok if travelling as a couple who want no frills.

Central location, quaint little hotel

Posted Aug 23, 2014
The Pensione might have been a bit hard for the taxi driver to find, but it is closely located to the Central train station in Sydney. It is WONDERFULLY located right downtown within easy walking distance of tons of restaurants, shopping, and sight-seeing. The room was a bit small, but comfortable and clean with a TV and small fridge. The hotel staff was super helpful with any requests. I'm quite satisfied with my stay!

Good hotel close to everything

Posted Aug 15, 2014
Pros: This hotel was close to chinatown, QBD and major shopping centers. Hotel was easy to find, staff were friendly and helpful, great bed and shower!
Cons: My only issue with this hotel was the cigarette smells filling the entire hotel, including my room. Rooms were quite small but not a big issue.
Location: Good location, many things to do nearby.
I chose to stay at this hotel for a business trip. It's a great hotel for people who are just looking for a place to crash at night and be out most of the day. It's conveniently located in Sydneys CBD so short distance to many different things. Overall good experience.

Good Spot in Inner Sydney

Posted Aug 10, 2014
Pros: The rooms were neat and tidy but quite small, however, the common room on the first floor made up for this.
Cons: All good
Location: Chinatown, George Street, Shops, Public transport were all nearby.
Picked this from the internet due to its central location in Sydney. It borders on Chinatown and is perhaps 10 minutes walk to the city centre. We were a party of six who had 3 twin rooms for 3 nights and everyone enjoyed their stay immensely. Restaurants were 5 minutes away, a bottle shop was downstairs and the hotel staff were excellent to deal with. We particularly liked the common room -equipped with cooking and tea making facilities, a fridge and daily newspapers, where the six of us could meet, chat, eat or relax. It was an excellent feature. The hotel was cheap too. We couldn't think of a better place to have stayed

Heating problem

Posted Aug 6, 2014
Pros: Good location and the reception staff were very helpful. The shower was excellent. The room was clean.
Cons: Just the heating.
Location: Close to central train station, walkable to centre of town, lots and lots of cheap places to eat close by.
It was all good but the air/con heating didn't work. It did get a bit cold in the evening. Sydney was unusually cold. The reception staff person was very prompt at bringing a heater so it wasn't a problem but heat pump wasn't fixed as promised.
