Great value close to all the sights

Pros: Rooms Price Staff
Cons: Tidy up repaired fixtures and fittings
Location: Opposite Hyde Park Museums, the Mint, Barracks, Botanic Gardens very close About half hour walk to Circular Quay
I booked the Pullman after staying in a fantastic one in Munich. Overall the Sydney Hyde Park is a lovely hotel, the staff were really friendly and helpful and the rooms very comfortable. However, there were a few things I noticed which dated the hotel a little - just minor areas of maintenance required like a replacement phone which hadn't been fitted properly, and work done to the lift surrounds which were messy. Absolutely nothing that affected our stay though. We had a room with two king(?) beds as there were three of us staying and the room was huge. The bathroom too. No issues with space at all. The beds are super comfortable. We had a lovely view over Hyde Park (although the windows could have done with a clean!) In terms of location, it was a bit of a walk to the Circular Quay area - probably half an hour at least. This was fine for the morning when heading out but at the end of the day we opted for a taxi back to the hotel, then a taxi back for dinner around the Quay area and then back again. A taxi is roughly $11 for each way so not a huge amount but it adds up. Saying this, location will be the reason the hotel is cheaper than others. I was a little disappointed by the bar area which was in the lobby. Shame not to make use of the higher floors to make the most of the view. Prices were OK - we caught happy hour one afternoon which is great value, but then on another night (not even the weekend) it wasn't happy hour and we got caught out. Not sure why?

Good hotel, good location, but could use updating

Posted Mar 12, 2015
Pros: Nice rooftop deck with ok hot tub and pool. Staff is excellent.
Cons: Gym (weight) equipment is awful and needs replacement. Cardio equipment is fine. Fitness room was also very warm -- need a fan at least.
Location: Stanley street has some great little cafes.
Well located, right next to Hyde Park and only 4 stops from the airport by train (Museum stop is one block from hotel). Very walkable to all of the main sites in Sydney. Also next to the gay area of Oxford street if that is relevant to you, but also tons of well-priced restaurants in that area. Hotel could use some attention to detail. Hall carpeting had some buckling (how hard is it to get someone in to stretch it out), doors slammed (adjust the springs),and a/c worked hard to keep room cool even though it wasn't that hot. Also layout of bathroom was weird -- huge tub, but sink and toilet shoved into a tight corner.

Great location

Posted Mar 9, 2015
Back in January 2015, 3 friends and I stayed one night in a twin bed room with views of Hyde park which I thought was worth the extra dollars. The room was nice and spacious and the bathroom was quite large too with a shower/spa bath. Very comfy beds! Room was very quiet (no outside noise). The only annoyance was that the cafe/restaurant was not open for business so we had to order room service as we were getting ready for a Hen's night and didn't have time to head over to Oxford st for food. Great, central location and would not hesitate to stay there again.

Amenities and comfort

Posted Mar 3, 2015
Pros: The food was excellent and the staff were very friendly and helpful.
Cons: The hotel does not quite stack up to a five star hotel, see comments above
Location: Very good location, easy to find things to do and get their.
Foe a 5 star hotel I would have expected better amenities in our room eg no bath robes, no additional towels, late servicing of room, only two tea bags of each flavour, only one soap bar in bathroom, exterior windows were very dirty (1509), tv was playing up.

Great position, great hotel

Posted Feb 17, 2015
Pros: Caters for tourists and business people . Liked everything about it
Cons: Needs another cafe style restaurant
Location: Close to city . Easy to walk to most of the tourist spots such as Darling Harbour or the Rocks etc Loved the Park view .
Had a four day stay at this hotel and really enjoyed it . Room was great , comfy bed , good size room overlooking Hyde Park . Staff were friendly , helpful and efficient. Very good housekeeping . Just need one more small cafe type restaurant to cater for casual meals . The only restaurant was very nice but limited menu . Hotel well positioned next to the park , easy walking to city and gives a bit of a buffer . All in all would certainly stay there again Excellent hotel
