Location: Great location - easy walking distance from some superb cafes and restaurants
The Royal Exhibition Hotel was clean and comfortable and the staff very friendly and helpful. It is in a great location - walking distance to a lot of popular destinations, and the station is right across the road for longer trips out. It's not fancy, but it doesn't pretend to be either. As a woman travelling on her own, I felt safe and comfortable and would recommend this hotel to others.

Perfectly positioned for tourists.Posted Mar 8, 2013
Pros: Location. Style.
Cons: Price. Lack of shower gel/shampoo
Location: Middle of the city directly opposite Sydney's Central Station
Being right opposite Sydney's Central train station means this hotel is in the perfect position for visitors to get around the city easy whether on foot or the train network. The hotel itself has a public sports bar and bistro attached and was easy to order food to take back to your room. Unfortunately, room service is unavailable so you do have to go down to the Bistro to order and wait for the food if you wanted to eat in your room. The room was clean with a pleasant antique style and come equipped with fridge, safe, hangers in the wardrobe, towels, soap and a fixed hairdryer. There were no shower gels/shampoo provided so you do have to bring your own. Room cleaning seemed to be more evening based, as two of my 4 nights I was getting ready to go out for the evening when they knocked, so turned them away. There wasn't any real views from my room due to the central location... an office block out of one window and the station entrance out of the other window, but I didn't choose this hotel for the views as I wasn't spending much time in there. Overall, it was a decent hotel, a little pricey but that's to be expected in the middle of the city and staff were friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend for tourists without children and business people.

Neat little place.Posted Feb 11, 2013
Pros: Historic appearance, great bar on the first floor.
Location: Great spot to catch a cab from and be anywhere in Sydney.
Neat little place. Not extravagant, but has a nice little bar on the first floor, simple, safe check in and check out procedures, and clean facilities. Very reasonably priced.

Worst hotel I've ever encountered or heard of. You check in at the bar of a gambling lounge. Pretty sure the place is a brothel. We did not stay and evacuated immediately.

Room was very small. Bathroom was renovated, very clean and shining. Close to Central Railway station and lots of cafes and resturants in the area. Great bistro with good food for lunch and dinner. Good selection of wines.

Pros: The staff
Location: Very close to transport and to eateries.
I found the staff very friendly, the location to Central station amazing(just over the road). You are able to walk to walk to the mall and to the park. I will be back definately. The food was great and good portion sizes(value for money).

Older hotel above pub with friendly staffPosted Oct 28, 2012
Pros: The fact that it was above a pub with very friendly staff.
Cons: Very cramped & dimly lit room
Location: Near the Central railway station
The hotel is above a pub & you have to check in at the bar. The staff was very friendly & helpful, but the room was very cramped & dimly lit. Also, you had to step up to enter the bathroom. All in all, it was fine just for one night.
