The cosy and old furnished hotel

Posted Aug 20, 2014
The batrhroom's door and ceiling was broken and the carpet was quite dirty. The room was just near the exit door, so very noisy of my room during the late evening.

A little bit far away from the CBD

Because I used to stay in the ridge of worldquare, so I forgot to check the ranking, the camperdown one is less high ranking than the worldsquare one. Staff are nice but there's no bar, no cafe, gym is in the Uni of sydney too far away not very convenient. Moreover, the room has a really wet smell not that comfortable.

City Hotel, on the fringe.

Posted May 29, 2014
Pros: Room was spacious - plenty of coffee in the room
Cons: Electronics need an overhaul (at least in that room)
Location: I was there on business at the University across the road.
briefly - One night stay, in transit with a car. Room was clean and spacious for a Sydney city Hotel, price was fine. The three basics (Bed, Bathroom and Desk) were all good. Disappointing was that wifi was out, internet cable was pulled out of the systems and not operating and generally the whole electronics other than the TV at the desk were not operating - even the phone was dead. The staff at check out gave the usual - "We'll do something about it response" maybe they did.

Busy and tired, urgent need of refurbishment

Posted Apr 14, 2014
Pros: I am sure this hotel will be habitable if Holly and the rude male staff member were not in employment
Cons: Customer service classes
We initially booked for 3 nights but thereafter decided to check in one day ahead-----the booking was done through expedia. Two booking numbers were presented to the very polite and lovely front office lady on thursday night. She took both sets of printed bookings spoke to her manager inside and informed us that even though, we had two booking numbers, there was no need to move rooms. She made sure the details were all noted and she retained the documents. I left early morning Friday and my wife got back to the room after work late Friday. She was informed quite rudely by the front office staff----Holly-- that her belongings were moved into a storage room and she needed to move out immediately. A rather inappropriate confrontation ensued with the front office lady becoming quite inappropriate. There were witnessed to the incident. Thereafter, another male hotel worked had got into the conversation and my wife was accused of overstaying and refusing to pay. I was overseas, and was called. The man who spoke to me was extremely rude and arrogant. Even after I told him to check for two booking and that both booking were in the system and after realising his mistake, he attempted to justify his rudeness and arrogance. My wife checked out in disgust early and even then she was asked to pay for her bookings !!!!!

Very convenient and close to Sydney University.

Pros: Location
Cons: Nothing for the price it is very reasonable.
Location: We liked to visit restaurants in Newtown and catch the bus into the city which is very easy considering the bus stop is directly outside the hotel.
Staff are friendly, rooms are neat and tidy. Great location close to bus stops and good restaurants in Newtown.

Totally out of their depth in Camperdown

Posted Apr 5, 2014
Pros: I thought the staff tried hard and took admirable responsibility for the shortcomings of the experience without being defensive or making excuses
Cons: The support systems, and a bit of a spruce up
Location: I was there for work, so unclear.
Arrived early for check-in and the staff were very friendly and approachable. I returned later in the day to discover that the computer system had crashed and only one person was able to check patrons in, so the wait was extensive. On getting to the desk it was there was no record of my pre-paid booking and with the system off-line, no way of checking for it. To their credit, the staff did their best and actually gave me a 'better' room than I suspect I otherwise would have been allocated. The room was adequate for my needs, but certainly old and tired. TV reception and picture quality were barely average and the controls not particularly easy to use or responsive. I did not use the restaurant, so cannot comment myself, but overheard another patron complaining that about being asked to pay for a meal that was meant to have been included in the room rate. Overall the impression was of a staff trying to do their best in an old tired hotel with poor communication systems and little support from management.
