very pleasedPosted Mar 14, 2015
Pros: location, decor, big room, quiet and clean
Cons: The dining room breakfast options were a bit confusing and I didn't get what I hoped for.
Location: Walk around the Opera House after dark. Eat at The Sydney Tower Buffet (revolving restaurant). Walk to The Rocks and Museum of Contemporary Art
The hotel is beautiful, like stepping into a Jane Austen novel. We stayed there fr 3 nights and have nothing but praise. Everything is perfectly clean and smells posh - a mixture of flowers and furniture polish. Our room had everything we needed. The bed was excellent. The windows and curtains did a complete job of blocking out city noise. We were on floor 7 and had a pleasing view of the quay/overseas passenger terminal with the big ocean liners coming in and out. There are free daily newspapers, ice and overnight shoe shine. The robes and slippers were terrific. The hot water is plentiful in the gorgeous marble bathroom. It's located just minutes from the trains/ferries/buses at Circular Quay though it's a steep walk uphill to the hotel. We got taxis to a couple of our meetings...average of ten dollars to cross the CBD. We used the dining room on the last day...recommend the continental breakfast as good value with an amazing variety available on the buffet but don't bother with the other option...If you have your heart set on a cooked breakfast walk down to City Extra instead, you'll get more for your money and a better view. A couple of times we enjoyed a relax on the Pool Terrace sunlounges. There is a great little gym and small pool with plenty of extra towels available. We would love to stay at the Sir Stamford again.

Pros: Great facilities, friendly staff and great service. What more can you ask for!
Cons: All good!
Location: Fantastic location to go for walks and running. The proximity to Circular Quay, The Opera House, Habour Bridge and Darling Harbour is fantastic.
Efficient and friendly staff. The service was great and the pool and gym was very convenient, clean and in excellent condition. I enjoyed being so close to Circular Quay, the Opera House, Darling Harbour and many good restaurants. A great area for evening strolls and absorbing the great atmosphere

This hotel is a short walk to Circular Quay, the OperaHouse and the gardens, so is very conveniently located for a visit to Sydney. The staff are courteous and helpful and the rooms and facilities comfortable and well maintained.

Felt Like RoyaltyPosted Feb 5, 2015
After two days of travel from the northeast usa we were soooo tired. We were early to arrive at this hotel and the staff was so accommodating to our needs upon arrival. We spent three relaxing nights in a comfortable spacious room. The breakfast is scrumptious. The full breakfast that I ordered the first morning is delicious but was too much food for me, so the next two days I ordered the continental which is fantastic. You must try the honycomb. Great stay and would return.

Elegance in the heart of SydneyPosted Jan 30, 2015
Pros: The location was awesome and the old world charm very pleasing.
Cons: The breakfast service could be a lot better organised!
Location: You're next to Circular Quay in the heart of Sydney. The Opera House , restaurants, shopping.....
Very comfortable room. and the staff very willing to please. Easy to get to from the Circular Quay station. We were staying in the more traditional are and the room was appropriately furnished. Unfortunately the service at breakfast times was hit and miss- try to avoid the busy times! The gym facilities are minimal, the hotel pool was also small, more for a cool dip than a proper workout. The terrace area was a comfortable suntrap for those looking to have a quiet half an hour with a book.

ImpressivePosted Jan 18, 2015
Pros: Service, pool, huge marble bathroom
Cons: all perfect
Location: The whole of Sydney! We caught a ferry to Darling Harbour, walked to the Opera House, movies at Opera Dendy, walked to commercial CBD to buy clothes,
I loved every part of our stay at Sir Stamford....the staff and other guests were perfect and with two young children with us, nothing was a problem. The interior was beautiful with antiques in the form of furniture, ceramic collections in glass cabinets and light fittings....incredible chandeliers. The pool was roof top with views from the incredible location at Circular Quay and opposite The Domain Gardens.

4 days in Sydney in JanuaryPosted Jan 16, 2015
Pros: The size of the room and the central location were definitely the best parts. Friendly, helpful staff also added to the experience.
Cons: The card-scanning system in the lifts is not efficient. Very comfortable, but not 5-star compared to other properties. Need a folder of info. in room.
Location: Location is amazing - right in the Quay and easy to get to the train station, ferries, into town, bus terminal etc.
My family enjoyed 4 days in Sydney after a cruise in January and found the Sir Stamford to be very convenient because of it's location. My children had not been to Sydney before, so we were keen to fit in as much as we could in the time we had. We did not have a car and didn't need one. We were able to walk to most places and used services such as the hop-on-hop-off busses for others. We had a room with a King and a Double bed - the room was HUGE! It had a desk and chair, a small sitting area and a large bathroom. It was very comfortable and clean. Nothing modern about this hotel, but we weren't expecting it to be. Kids used the pool which is small but clean and refreshing on a hot day!

A hidden gem in a brilliant location!Posted Jan 16, 2015
Pros: The location!
Cons: It was all positive - the hotel should retain its atmosphere and old-world English charm.
Location: The Botanic Gardens, Circular Quay and Opera House are all at your door step!
A very clean and comfortable hotel in a fantastic location. The rooms are tastefully decorated and extremely spacious! Staff at Sir Stamford were very friendly and helpful, and the Sydney High Tea experience was a highlight.
