Excellent location

Posted May 25, 2015
Pros: The old world feel of the place as soon as you walk in. It has a lot if class but isn't stuffy.
Cons: There was a problem with the lift and room pass but the staff were on hand to help us out.
Location: Walk around Circular Quay, eat and drink amongst the beautiful surroundings. Visit different bars, Listen to music, browse through markets.
If you wanted somewhere a stones throw away from the Rocks precinct and Sydney Opera House then this is your place. We did a pub crawl on Sat. afternoon, visited the markets at The Rocks and had a great lunch in one of the outdoor cafes and it took a few minutes to get back to the hotel for a needed rest.

We stayed for just 1 night but it was a beautiful hotel with large spacious rooms , close to everything. The Bar is a great place to enjoy a drink with it's old world charm!! Bathrooms are huge and clean and all the staff were friendly and helpful. Would definately stay again.

Character hotel. A Sydney experience. Central.

Posted Apr 4, 2015
Pros: It has character and is ideally located to facilitate CBD visits and walks in the Botanic Gardens.
Cons: Disability access.
Location: Sydney Harbour Bridge, the Opera House, Circular Quay, ferries and the Botanic Gardens are all within walking distance.
A lovely old building with helpful staff who need more training in regard to helping wheelchair- bound clients. Management and reception staff were highly responsive in dealing with any emergent problems.

Quiet, spacious and comfortable.

Pros: Old style atmosphere in a convenient location.
Cons: Nil
Location: Taronga Zoo is just a short ferry trip across the harbour. Short walk The Rocks, Opera House and Botanic Gardens. Two minute walk to Circular Quay.
Have stayed before and will stay again. Conveniently located. Hotel is not over-sized and is serviced by helpful, friendly staff. Decor is befitting a hotel aiming to achieve a quiet, comfortable, traditional ambience. Room sizes are more generous than some other hotels we have stayed in Sydney.

very pleased

Pros: location, decor, big room, quiet and clean
Cons: The dining room breakfast options were a bit confusing and I didn't get what I hoped for.
Location: Walk around the Opera House after dark. Eat at The Sydney Tower Buffet (revolving restaurant). Walk to The Rocks and Museum of Contemporary Art
The hotel is beautiful, like stepping into a Jane Austen novel. We stayed there fr 3 nights and have nothing but praise. Everything is perfectly clean and smells posh - a mixture of flowers and furniture polish. Our room had everything we needed. The bed was excellent. The windows and curtains did a complete job of blocking out city noise. We were on floor 7 and had a pleasing view of the quay/overseas passenger terminal with the big ocean liners coming in and out. There are free daily newspapers, ice and overnight shoe shine. The robes and slippers were terrific. The hot water is plentiful in the gorgeous marble bathroom. It's located just minutes from the trains/ferries/buses at Circular Quay though it's a steep walk uphill to the hotel. We got taxis to a couple of our meetings...average of ten dollars to cross the CBD. We used the dining room on the last day...recommend the continental breakfast as good value with an amazing variety available on the buffet but don't bother with the other option...If you have your heart set on a cooked breakfast walk down to City Extra instead, you'll get more for your money and a better view. A couple of times we enjoyed a relax on the Pool Terrace sunlounges. There is a great little gym and small pool with plenty of extra towels available. We would love to stay at the Sir Stamford again.
