“The Grace Hotel - a great place to stay”
- our hotel room was comfortable, up to date, spacious, and clean - a convenient walking distance to Circular Quay and Darling Harbor
“Art Deco charm but 21st century comfort”
I'd been meaning to stay here for a while - and I'm glad I finally did! I like a place with a bit of history (and The Grace has it in spades). Built as a marvellous dream that was ruined by the Depression, then doing its bit for WWII and housing the US forces while they were in Sydney - and now a very comfy centrally located hotel. My room was extremely roomy which was nice. It was a bit dark due to fact it faced the central atrium, but I was willing to overlook that. All the staff were friendly, attentive and thoughtful. And everything is in walking distance. I like a good walk in the mornings, so I took in the Botanical Gardens day 1, and then Dawes Point (beneath the Bridge) on day 2. Looking forward to my next stay!
“Grace”
Great location, hotel, service.
“Good location, old hotel”
This place is a bit dated. Rooms are small and decently maintained, but it's not a place I'd call comfortable or trendy. Check-in was fine; location was good, but the 4 star rating was a bit misleading and overrated. 3 stars at best. Walking distance to the Opera House - and only two blocks to the train station to the airport.

“great hotel in great city”
great hotel in a great location
“average”
Attractive, tidy, comfortable hotel with lousy service. concierge does not know the area, check in staff distracted and unattentive.
“somewhat disappointed”
This location was recommended by my firend so we have high expectation. As we checked in around 7:30 pm, we found out the safe box was not functional. Mechanic came and cannot fix it within one hour so we went out for dinner and gave permission to work in the room while we were gone. When we returned at 11 pm, the job was not completed and night shift has no idea about our request. We requested service next morning at 7 am and managed to get up early. We waited and waited for 30 min and no one came for service. We had to call again and finally it was fixed and we wasted another hour in the room. The bad maitanance work and communication was very disappointed, also we cannot change our room or get another safe box at the first day. It never happened to me as I travel about 2 dozen trips per year. This service will never happen in US hotels.
“Excellent location!”
This hotel was great for us! We were on our honeymoon and first time visitors to Australia. The location of this hotel couldn't be beat. We walked everywhere. Just about every major tourist attraction (apart from Blue Mountains, Hunter Valley, etc.) was a 15-20 min walk from the hotel: Darling Harbour, Circular Quay, the Rocks, Sydney Opera House, Chinatown. It was an even shorter walk to Queen Victoria Building (QVB) - the majestic shopping mall. Hotel itself was clean and well maintained. Our room was small, but comfortable and updated with modern tech and decor. The bathroom was small and a little weirdly designed though. You had to take a big step into the tub and be careful when getting out. Definitely will pose a challenge for anyone who has physical limitations. The space around the toilet is pretty tight and you'd have to be careful not to bang your head on the opposite wall. Other than that, room was great. One quirk: when we entered our room the first time, there was no power and we could barely make out anything in the dark. After a few minutes of trying to figure out what to do, finally understood that we had to slot our room key card in this thingy on the wall in order to get the power to turn on. Guess it's a great idea for energy conservation - just wish the front desk explained it to us when they gave us the room key card. Maybe we're just not savvy travelers! LOL!
