Good location

Posted Aug 19, 2014
Pros: We liked everything about this hotel.
Location: Location is central and makes it very convenient for shopping and sightseeing. It is an easy walk to Central Quay with all the attractions on offer
Stayed here after driving down from Brisbane. Excellent location, convenient for everything. The way this building has been converted is amazing, yet it retains many of the original features. Would highly recommend this hotel to anybody staying in Sydney

Fantastic Central CBD location

Posted Aug 13, 2014
Pros: Location
Cons: Sound proof the rooms a bit more please
Location: QVB, Westfield, David Jones, Cafes, Restaurants, The Rocks, Darling Harbour all within easy walking distance
Came for a four night stay without the kids - fabulous location - maximum walking time anywhere (Rocks, Darling Harbour etc) was 10 minutes. Incredibly close to the key shopping places i.e., QVB, Westfield and David Jones Plenty of bars and restaurants within EASY walking distance. I needed medical attention and the concierge put me in touch with a great medical centre (Hyde Park Medical Centre) which was AMAZING also. Really enjoyable experience The only bummer is the walls seem quite thin and you got quite a bit of noise from the neighbours - i.e. when their alarms were set we heard them go off and could hear voices etc. Other than that, excellent and it wouldn't put me off staying there again.

Excellent overnight stay location close to many shopping attractions in the middle of the CBD. Good size room with King size bed and spacious shower/bathroom. No bath but otherwise well presented. All facilities were as advertised.

Comfortable hotel well placed for city

Posted Aug 3, 2014
Friendly welcome, arrived early and staff happy to look after our bags whilst we started to look around. Reception gave us a map and helpful hints. Room comfortable and spacious, leisure suite good with small training pool. Only had breakfast once during our stay but very good and more than we could possibly eat ! Only downside was no complimentary Wi Fi.

Art Deco Meets Zen

Posted Aug 1, 2014
Pros: The architecture, and the manager.
Cons: Hang some historic photographs of the building, and/or views from the building. These would be a tasteful addition to the lobby, hallways, and rooms.
Location: Everything is within a 10 to 20 minute walk: Darling Harbour, Circular Quay, QVB, Theatres, Cinema, Hyde Park, Botanic Garden, Shopping, CBD.
My stay was undoubtedly saved by a reasonable and decisive manager who switched my room. The main problem was that the bathroom smelled like sewage. The smell was emanating from the floor drain. There were also other issues with the first room including noisy neighbours on both sides that could easily be heard. Having adjoining doors, the room wasn't going to keep out much noise anyway. Also the entire 7th floor smelled like a cookery - a greasy smell that hit hard after exiting the elevator. So whatever I say next, take it with a grain of salt. It could be like playing roulette when booking a room here. About the second room: it was fantastic. I can't say enough about it. It was clean, comfortable, and spacious. It didn't have adjoining doors. The housekeeping staff were thorough. The bed was a little too soft for my liking and bit worn but nonetheless comfortable by my experience. The desk staff were cheerful and pleasant enough. It was my most comfortable stay in Australia even in comparison to other major hotels. The hotel is a beautiful piece of history. The Art Deco architecture is classy. The decor is minimalist - don't expect much in the way of artwork or photography hanging on the walls. I think if you get the right room, it's a very good place to stay.

Central location to most attractions

Awesome location to walk to most attractions, to catch the ferries and off to more attractions. The hotel staff were very helpful when questions were asked. Enjoyed that the hotel had a gym, I'd go to it every morning before my busy activity filled day. It was a wonderful experience and definitely the next time I am on Sydney, I know what hotel to reserve, the Grace Hotel :-)

Large rooms

Posted Jul 31, 2014
Pros: Room size and location
Cons: Facelift in lobby area
Location: Good location shopping, transport and Darling Harbour
Great size rooms and bathroom. Convenient location for all shopping. Staff professional. Reception and lobby area lacks ambiance of being welcoming with dour decor - surrounds on outside of hotel smelly due to pub across the road and York Street very dirty (no fault of hotel) which is why when you enter the lobby it should be a complete transformation of elegance, brightness of a 4 star quality hotel. Beautiful building needs a huge "lift" to bring it to life in lobby area. Would definitely recommend.
