Great locationPosted Feb 14, 2014
Pros: Hotel has great character. Great location.
Location: One of the best locations in Sydney. It's right on Circular Quay, so everything you want to do in Sydney is close by or rail and ferries is rt outside
I picked this hotel because of location. Everything you need is very close to the hotel; ferries, trains, restaurants, Sydney Harbour etc. it was everything I expected and I will stay there again.

We loved the presentation of the individual roomsPosted Feb 11, 2014
Pros: The staff had that engaging capacity to be very helpful, not only relating to the hotel itself, but directions to places we would like to go.
Cons: Being Seniors, we had a few problems with the stairs but, where possible, the staff aided us without having to be asked.
Location: The Rocks area took all our attention this time as we were booked to sail on a cruise the next day.
Whatever we said to a staff member, they were attentive and obliging. It certainly is in the best part of Sydney an we most probably will be returning.

We never stay in American Hotels when we travel. We loved the Russel. It is old and maybe not for everyone but it is in the Rocks just where you want to be. Walking distance from the cruise ship. walk 1/2 block from the ferries. Staff was always helpful, fresh flowers in our room and choc on our pillow every night. Breakfast was good. Everything you need is just a short walk. Not luxury but the color and spirit of Old Sydney We were puffed up by our choice

Still a perfect locationPosted Oct 14, 2013 on Hotels.com
My first visit to The Russell was enchanting. The downstairs wine bar, which is the breakfast room just for guests in the mornings, had been decorated in peacock blues with cosy booths with a brilliant peacock on display. The have removed all of thad and not just have hard tables and chairs and no atmosphere. The breakfast is still decent and the staff are wonderful and the best in the city. They are friendly, helpful and fun just to chat with. The rooms are all decorated differently and are in the process of upgrading. This should help the comfort of the beds! It is the best location to see Sydney from!

"We loved it"Posted Oct 4, 2013 on Hotels.com
Stayed at the Russell with my family in a triple room (number 10) a gorgeous, well appointed room overlooking George Street with a share bathroom right next door. Absolutely loved everything about The Russell. Gorgeous sitting room, rooftop garden, helpful reception, lovely breakfast. You may criticise the creaky floorboards in the hallway but The Russell is a piece of Sydneys history. You breath the days gone by as soon as you enter it and it is a location that cannot be equalled. Would LOVE to come back for New Years Eve. Wow it would be beautiful. :)

I stayed one night en route on international travel. The hotel was perfect; great location, clean, cute rooms. The shared bathroom made it affordable. Amazingly easy to reach by train. Great destination
