Great location, minimalist roomPosted Apr 17, 2014
Pros: Location, location, location.
We did okay at this hotel but would not recommend it to those who enjoy more creature comforts. Room was small but clean. We ordered ensuite & were given the handicap accessible bathroom. The shower was just a showerhead on the wall. Thus the entire floor was soaked after a shower. Not much space for clothes. Hotel staff was very pleasant & courteous and the breakfast was very nice. However the restaurants attached to the hotel were not very accommodating. Room had a menu that listed wine. ( $25-35) but when I called to order it they only had $60 bottles. Tried to have an early dinner in the Fortune of War restaurant & ended leaving after no one waited on us. Looks like a great pub if you are into pubs. Location is fabulous. It is very near Circular Quay & The Harbour bridge. George St. Has great shops.

LOVED this hotel!!!Posted Apr 7, 2014
Pros: Everything! Great atmosphere, very quaint!
Loved everything about this hotel! Just don't compare it to American hotels... it has a European feel to it. Perfect location & staff was super, super friendly!!! Very reminicent of my favorite London hotel, Dorset Square.

Great locationPosted Feb 14, 2014
Pros: Hotel has great character. Great location.
Location: One of the best locations in Sydney. It's right on Circular Quay, so everything you want to do in Sydney is close by or rail and ferries is rt outside
I picked this hotel because of location. Everything you need is very close to the hotel; ferries, trains, restaurants, Sydney Harbour etc. it was everything I expected and I will stay there again.

We loved the presentation of the individual roomsPosted Feb 11, 2014
Pros: The staff had that engaging capacity to be very helpful, not only relating to the hotel itself, but directions to places we would like to go.
Cons: Being Seniors, we had a few problems with the stairs but, where possible, the staff aided us without having to be asked.
Location: The Rocks area took all our attention this time as we were booked to sail on a cruise the next day.
Whatever we said to a staff member, they were attentive and obliging. It certainly is in the best part of Sydney an we most probably will be returning.

We never stay in American Hotels when we travel. We loved the Russel. It is old and maybe not for everyone but it is in the Rocks just where you want to be. Walking distance from the cruise ship. walk 1/2 block from the ferries. Staff was always helpful, fresh flowers in our room and choc on our pillow every night. Breakfast was good. Everything you need is just a short walk. Not luxury but the color and spirit of Old Sydney We were puffed up by our choice

Beautiful HotelPosted Sep 17, 2013
Pros: We loved the character of the hotel. A little like a bed and breakfast, but had all the amenities of a 5 star hotel and the staff. Lovely!
Cons: Nothing we could find to improve.
Location: Location was in the heart of Sydney Harbor. We were able to walk to the Sydney Bridge, walk to the Opera House, and take a cruise to Darling Harbor
We stayed 2 nights at the Russell Hotel and found is most pleasant. Our room was lovely and the staff was very helpful. The bed linens were so comfortable and it was nice to have a robe provided. The Hotel has a beautiful patio on the roof where we enjoyed a nice cocktail and view. Breakfast each morning was delightful and found it fun to watch the busy street out front. (breakfast is included) We enjoyed the true character of this hotel and would recommend this place to anyone!! We loved it! Wish we could of stayed longer!

The Russell Hotel, Sydney, Australia.Posted Sep 3, 2013
Pros: The room was charming, the staff were awesome, the location to the train from the airport was so conveinent and the breakfast was a nice treat.
Location: It is located in the area called 'The Rocks'. Within easy walking distance to the Opera House and Syndey Harbor Bridge. Very historic district.
We spent one night in Sydney on our way back to the US ( after having stayed in Tasmania for 10 days - awesome place) and wanted to stay somewhere centra. We wanted to find a place that was easily accessed via the airport train that would afford us the opportunity to sight-see in the vicinity. The Russell did just that. We were within walking distance to the Opera house, the Sydney Harbor bridge and there were many shops and cafes to visit. We would definitely stay there again.

Very enjoyable, home-like feel.Posted Aug 24, 2013
Pros: Quaint. Right on the street - very enjoyable.
Cons: More hand towels in bathrooms.
Location: Very central - perfect location and near to the opera house.
Wonderful. I felt safe and welcomed. Although the bath was shared, it was not really a problem.

Pleasantly surprisedPosted Jun 23, 2013
Cons: Breakfast service
Location: Didn't drive so don't know about parking, but easy to get a train to and it's at the rocks, what's not to like!
Very pleasantly surprised! For the price I didn't expect such a clean, modern, beautifully presented room. Manager on duty when I checked in was lovely even though I didn't arrive till 10.30pm. Have stayed at plenty of Accor properties in Sydney befor, but I think this will be my new place to stay.
