“Good experience”
Rooms were small but very adequate. We included the breakfast which was vey good. Staff was very helpfull. We went up to Coffs Harbor for a few day and have rebooked in prior to and after a cruise
“Bad internet”
Dirty glasses
“A good place to stay relatively close to Sydney's attractions”
The service received was, bad. I paid for a Queen bed and got two singles, no chance to change it... No internet available at the rooms
“Travelodge Sydney”
Okay for Sydney be/c all the hotels are so expensive, but.....
“On the Spot!”
This hotel was near everything we wanted to see and extremely close to buses and trains! We had originally planned to pay for a city pass for public transportation around Sydney for $160 but found that walking was the best choice. From the hotel's location we walked to the major sites (The Royal Botanic Gardens, Australia Museum, The Rocks, Circular Quay, Darling Harbor, etc) within 30 minutes or less! For the places like Bondi beach and Paddington, we took a bus that was just a block away from the hotel. We even took a bus and train to and from the airport for a total of $7 each way which was 50% less than taking a shuttle bus or taxi to and from the airport. The hotel was very clean and the staff was super helpful with giving out directions! Also, the micro fridge and microwave and sink was a great addition to the room because we were able to bring back food to store and eat later. I highly recommend this place!
“convenient Sydney location”
very convenient location, room small but that was fine
“Clean but basic”
This was a clean but very basic hotel with limited facilities. It is not set up for business travel with no internet service except for an internet kiosk on the ground level with snail paced internet connection (I spent $4 waiting in vain for my webmail browser to come up). On the other hand the room while very basic was spotless, the personnel could not have been more pleasant, and the location is excellent. both to the many attractions of the city and to transport both within and outside of Sydney.
“Not worth staying here.”
Even though I got a good deal on the price, I would never stay here again. I booked a room for three adults and the room we got was the smallest hotel room I've ever seen. They removed the double bed and replaced it with three single beds. We had about 1 foot of space between the beds and no room next to the wall. We had to keep our luggage stacked in a pile. The place charges extra for everything. It costs $25.00 a day to park your car at a garage a block and a half away. I was charge $2.50 to make a phone call from my room to the front desk. Sydney is outragously expensive to start with, so maybe this is right in line with everything else. I'll never go back to Sydney, but the rest of the country was worth the trip.
“Travelodge Sydney Not What they Advertise”
We booked at the Travelodge because they advertised all rooms had data connections for internet. When we arrived we were told that any rooms below the 13th floor were not 'hooked up'. We could upgrade from the average room for $30 AUD and then have the priviledge of paying an additional $20AUD for internet access for 24 hours. We pointed out that they advertised ALL room had data access and they moved us (after two days) to a small room where the ventilation system blew directly in our faces all night and the hot water did not work properly (as if there was air in the pipes and it would come and go from full force to nothing). The staff was pleasant and helpful and the rooms were clean.
“Uncomfortable, Overpriced & A Cold Welcome”
Keep looking and you will find better located, more comfortable Sydney hotels for the same price, or less.....seriously. It's definitely not the worst hotel in Australia...but I wouldn't stay there again. Honestly, I think I'd prefer a hostel. I don't need a lot of "service" from the places I stay....but I left the Travelodge Hotel Sydney feeling under-serviced. Reception was cold and didn't really seem willing (or able) to help with even simple requests or questions. I don't expect much from budget priced hotels....but I left the Travelodge Hotel Sydney feeling like I over-paid. I don't mind doing a good amount of walking to see the sites of the places I visit....but I left the Travelodge Hotel Sydney feeling like I had to walk too much to get to the places I wanted to see. I usually prefer to stay at places just a little outside of the "city center".....but left the Travelodge Hotel Sydney feeling like I wasn't really "in Sidney" when I was in my room. Again, keep looking. You'll be glad you did.
