“Very nice VIBE and hotel”

The modern style of the hotel created a nice atmosphere and.... vibe. :) The room was small (tight squeeze for two people) but clean and comfortable. The main drawback was the lack of drawer space -- there was a mini closet but no dresser in our room. I would stay there again because of the location - very central. The hotel cafe had good food but the service was SLOW -- a common theme in the city.

Area recommendations

Close to Hyde Park. shopping, trains and bus lines. Hip restaurants in Darlington - short walk away. Easy to walk down Elizabeth St to the harbor and Opera House.

“Best Location in the CBD!”

The Vibe hotel is in an excellent location and it was so easy to catch a bus from there to the major sites! The condition of the room was great and it was super comfy! A GREAT value for the price!

Area recommendations

The Rocks by the harbor. Great area with wonderful little shops and cafes. Make sure to go on the weekend when the markets are up and running!

“Good location”

Very good location. You can walk to the nearby train and bus station, shopping, restaurants. Very clean room and friendly staff. The bad thing is they charge for internet use for $12/hr. or $25/day.

“Don't stay on the first floor”

“Good Location and Superior Staff”

I was really impressed with this hotel. The location is very convenient in that it is just a block from the Museum metro station and from there you can get anywhere including to and from the airport in less than 30 minutes door to door (definitely buy the 7 day public transportation pass, it’s good for all the metro, bus and ferry transportation around the city). Darling Harbour is a 15 minute walk, Circular Quay and the Rocks maybe a 25 minute walk. From the time we arrived the hotel until we checked out the staff were extremely helpful in every way, if I ever return to Sydney I would repeat my stay in this hotel without hesitation, a very good blend of price and location.

“Great Find”

The Vibe is located very conveniently and fairly central to all major sites. Also, it is within 1 block on the city rail system which loops throughout downtown Sydney dropping you off within walking distance to just about every major site. The staff was very friendly and helpful assisting us with all of our needs. The rooms were spacious, neat, and clean with a modern decor. We would stay here again!

“Great hotel, great location, clean and quiet!”

The first day we walked from the hotel through Chinatown to Darling Harbor, took the ferry to Circular Quey, walked around the Opera House and through the Botanical Gardens, Hyde Park and then down Elizabeth St to our hotel. It was great to know we could walk everywhere. We were also 2 blocks from the train station which we took several times. The bus stop is across the street, great coffee house 1 block down and a grocery store 2 blocks down. Our room was in the back facing a brick wall which was fine with me. It was quiet and we did not spend much time in our room. Great restaurants within walking distance. The hotel booked a tour for us to the Blue Mountains and were very helpful with tourist questions. We took the shuttle from the airport to the hotel for $14. The hotel booked our shuttle going back to the airport for $12. We were told the train is around $15 to the airport. We bought a 7 day pass that included unlimited rides on the public train, buses and ferry's and cost $57. Great deal and we maximized it!!

Area recommendations

It depends on how much you are willing to spend. We were on a budget and we loved our hotel. We didn't have views of Darling Harbor or Sydney Harbor but that was fine with us. The city is very dense and easy to get around. Great transportation system.

When to go

We went in mid September which is early spring. We had great weather, no rain and it is cheaper than going in the summer.

Getting around

Get a public transportation pass which includes buses, trains and ferry's. We took every ferry ride they had.

Must see

Go to the Blue Mountains and see the Jonelon Caves.

Shopping

The Rocks has great shopping!!! George St is also fun!

Outdoors or beach

We took the train to Bondi Beach. It was really fun watching the surfers on the BIG waves

“Clean Room, bad front desk service”

The hotel cafe is great. They had a 5 dollar muffin and coffee (including lattes) breakfast special to go. The rooms were clean and beds were comfortable. The only bad thing is that the front desk lady was sooooo rude. She made it seem like I was bothering her to ask her to call a airport shuttle.

“Fab spot!”

Funky clean quiet hotel located in a great part of Sydney. Can't fault the Vibe and would recommend to all. Looking forward to going back.

“Not the Ritz but OK for the price: Get what you pay for”

TERRIFIC location and good staff. It is not the employees fault that the rooms badly need upgrade ( carpet cleaning, new mattresses). On a budget I would stay there again but if money allows, would prefer a cleaner more modern room elsewhere but in same neighborhood, nearby location.

When to go

MUST SEE of course is the famed Sydney Opera House and the Sydney Harbor Bridge. Ride the ferry at night to Luna Park for some awesome photos of the city. Riding the ferry to the Taronga Zoo, Darling Harbor or Manley also is a great photo op

MUST buy a weekly 41.00 ( or daily 20.00) transit pass for UNLIMITED travel on trains, ferries and busses

Getting around

Buy a weekly transit pass at a 7-11 or other location, it gets you unlimited travel on trains, ferries and busses!!

Shopping

Paddys Market is a MUST for cheap/inexpensive souvenirs. SAME items sold at gift shops at Circular Quay for LOTS less. Queen Victoria Building and Darling Harbor shops are nice and have unsual shops/items. Lots of unique/quaint shops in the Rocks area and a craft fair there on Sundays of all varied items ( food, clothing, gadgets...you name it)> GREAT book store in the Rocks

Dining

Mahoney's Pub, just a short walk from the hotel, has great food at cheap prices! If it is fish you want, you MUST go to Peter's in the Sydney Fish Market (the only problem is the fish markets close at 5pm) so it will have to be lunch rather than dinner. Peter's has huge portions and exteremly reasonable prices AND best of all the prawns ( shrimp in U.S.) at Peters are cleaned, no heads or legs as in most Australia restaurants.

Family-friendly activities

Luna Park and Taronga zoo are fun. Taking the ferry to get there adds to the fun
