Decent stayPosted Nov 10, 2013
This hotel was decent. Nothing amazing, it was comfortable and somewhat clean. I wouldn't use the jet tub because it looked like it had not been scrubbed and had hard water stains on it. Breakfast was decent though, it was nice to have a hot continental breakfast. Hotel staff were really friendly!!

Was just passing through one night and booked with short notice. Quick and easy. Clean rooms. Even had a free breakfast downstairs on the way out.

Sylvan Lake Best WesternPosted Oct 31, 2012
Pros: clean, new, everything works
This is a new property - and in very good condition. It is easy to find and close to restaurants. Good for business travellers. Staff are very helpful and friendly.

For a tourist town, this was no real attraction.Posted Oct 29, 2012
Pros: Jetted tub and free breakfast. Parking was close to the front door. Could see some of the lake - though we paid more for a great view.
Cons: Having to go out and buy a cork screw and then drink our wine out of plastic cups.
Location: Sylvan Lake is a tourist town that is popular in the summer. We were there during low season.
Usually I have found that the new Best Western Hotels have suburb decor, obviously done by trained interior designers (one of the reasons why I pick the brand). Unfortuneatly this was not the case at this hotel. I think the owners opted to plan the room decor themselves and it shows. When we arrived the temperature outside was -5 degrees and the fan was blowing cold air in our room. Not a hard fix because we could adjust it ourselves. I was disappointed with the quality of amenities - just the basics, nothing more. After settling in we asked for a cork screw and was told we could try the store down the street. We had to drink our wine from plastic cups because there was not any glasses provided. We enjoyed the jetted tub and breakfast was excellent.

Nice location and pleasant roomPosted Aug 22, 2012
Pros: Location and room size
Cons: Breakfast not so great
Location: Ideal location for waterfront.
The location of the hotel is excellent. The room is pleasant and clean with good lighting (this is often not the case), and lots of power outlets in the rooms. The beds were comfortable, and the room was a good size and not pokey. The breakfast was not the best, but it was okay. I do find it disappointing that they use paper plates and plastic cutlery, and there are no recycling bins in the rooms. A little more attention to environmental issues would be nice. The pool area is pleasant, but the hot tub is more lukewarm.

A hot breakfast included was a real bonus. Very nice. Late check in is a bit annoying. Otherwise very good.
