Great hopsitality and hopsitality

Posted Sep 15, 2013 on Hotels.com
We stayed for a week at the beginning of September and enjoyed our stay, especially the kind and helpful attentions of our hosts. Twice we had dinner there and it was excellent, beautifully cooked traditional cuisine (e.g. Macoroni Norma'). Our car hire firm had not provided us with any clue how to get back to their garage (Firely at Catania) and Yvanne looked it up on Google and provided us with faultless directions). At the moment access to the autoroute has altered their access and signposting on the autoroute and in Syracusa generally is primitive and sometimes contradictory. The road to the house is reached, coming from Syracusa, by coming under the autoroute and continuing about 400 yards to the next corner where you leave the main road sloping right to a roundabout. Take the first exit and Via Agamennone is second left. Go slowly up the potholed road which badly needs repair. Our room was clean with linen changed daily and a comfortable large bed. Ask advice as to how to work the air conditioning with a remote control. It works but is antique and noisy. We enjoyed swimming in the sea locally (Fonte Bianche) and in the pool at the hotel. The accommodation is clean but simple and a bit elderly but you will be well cared for, fed and your hosts could not be kinder.

Good Location for Syracusa

Posted May 22, 2012 on Hotels.com
We liked the Hotel Aldebaran because of the location near the motorway and Syracusa. The host was charming and the breakfast good. We enjoyed going off for trips and coming back to relax by the pool. It was close enough to Ortigia to go in every night for supper. My one compliant would be is that they need to put a small fridge in every room. There was space in our room and it's really nice to have cold beers, water and various food items. I think even a cheap B&B should have this

disappointed

Posted Sep 26, 2011
The room was dark and depressing.Floor was dirty and the bathroom not very clean with an empty bottle of shampoo on top of the shower cubicle. There was no soap and when I asked for some was told the delivery had not arrived and would be here later. We were staying 2 nights and got the soap on the 2nd evening! The shower was awful it sprayed all over. The shower head was caked in limescale. The only place to put your clothes was a wardrobe which had plaster coming off the walls. It was such a disappointment as it was our last 2 days in Sicily and we had stayed at some lovely places.

Made to feel welcome

Female Hotel owner was delightful and not only cooked a delicious evening meal for us, made us feel very welcome and also was more than willing to talk and help me with my Italian. After the stress of driving in Syracuse it was delightful to sit around the pool and enjoy the sunshine.

Would certainly return to this hotel

The hotel staff were very helpful and polite. The room was cleaned daily and kept in a comfortable state. The actual position of the hotel is perfect, being very close to the fast motorway to Catania and avoiding the need to negotiate the narrow streets of the large town of Siracusa.

Peace and quiet

If you want a place in the Syracusa countryside, this is the place. Only 6km from the city, the place was clean, quiet, and close to the autoroute. The owner was friendly and the price very reasonable.

Pretty disappointing

This family-run B&B is located in a lovely rural location convenient for touring Siracusa and the area by car. But, the room had many problems. The worst was lack of heat. The temperature never went above 60F (16C). We were the only guests, but the hosts wouldn't move us to a different room. There was no view. The shower drain was clogged. There was a hole in the wall. Breakfast was very basic - bread, butter, jam, coffee, and juice. The hosts were mostly unavailable.
