Previously Microtel - it hasn't changed for better

Posted Aug 18, 2014
Pros: Free breakfast
Cons: Cleanliness, mattresses, new linens, more toasters during breakfast
Location: Syracuse (football, basketball, downtown) is about a 15 minute drive from Carrier Circle. Easy access to the NYS Thruway and 690.
Stayed here while in town to visit a friend in Syracuse without realizing that it was a renamed Microtel that I'd stayed in several years ago and swore not to stay in again. The mattress is hard, the rooms are dingy and poorly cleaned, the hallways smell of mildewy-cigarette smoke blend, the tv is small, and the overall ambiance is non-existent.

Get what you pay for!

Posted Aug 9, 2014
Pros: Price.
Cons: Reception service.
Location: Good location, was near the Christmas Shoppe, Destiny USA mall.
Less than impressed with check-in - receptionist did not provide good customer service, he seemed too preoccupied with his movie in the back room. He sat there for a good 2 minutes after hearing us call to him, and seemed annoyed we would interrupt his movie. Did not tell us of the wifi password or breakfast timings, just did the bare minimum which was give us the room key. We even asked for brief directions - at least tell us which general direction to go! The other two workers we dealt with were a lot more pleasant and friendly.

hotel is not fancy but rooms are a good size and the beds are comfortable. Easy to find. Close to restaurants and shopping.

Does the job.

Posted Aug 5, 2014
Pros: Price was right for a quick stay.
Cons: Rooms are non-smoking but the passageways were extremely smoky when we checked in - room was fine and not smoky.
Location: Centrally located at a mid-point between Toronto and the Capital Region.
Room was modest and clean enough. Check in was courteous although the morning staff was rude and we were also rudely yelled at down the hallway by the housekeeping staff to tell them which room we were checking out of. Passageway was thick with cigarette smoke for a non-smoking wing but the room was not smoky.

You get what you pay for!

The rates was great but the rooms were small, and the hotel had a smell. The rooms didn't come with any appliances, not even a clock, no iron, nothing! The Tub was dirty, and the air conditioner stopped working. The outside door handle was broke so we had to work all the way to the front doors with our bags. I would NEVER stay at another America's Best Value Inn! Nor would I recommend them! Hope this was helpful.

Nothing good, except the price

Posted Jul 29, 2014
Pros: The price.
Cons: Everything... The rooms could use an upgrade.
Location: Bad location.
The condition of my room was poor; inoperable television, old worn out bathroom sink, paper thin towels, dirty carpet, but I guess you get what you pay for. I had to pay cash because the system was down, the door to my room didn't lock, no wireless and an old broken television. But, free parking!

Cheaper cost

Posted Jul 24, 2014
Pros: Its location (near the Mall and restaurant)
Cons: Cleanliness, modern or more recent appeal to it
Location: Go to Destiny Mall, Waterloo Premium Outlet
I did get a room worth what I paid for. Not too secure, anyone could have opened it with a simple kick. Not very tidy (bed, chest, etc).

The price was good

The morning staff was good. The night staff needs to be fired. I asked for a bottle opener he told me this is not a bar we don't have bottle openers. I waited 15 minutes for him to realize he's outside on the phone. The next day I ask him what's checkout time and once again I get his attitude. Very disrespectful needs to learn how to treat customers with manners

Cigarette smell permeate the hotel

Posted Jul 14, 2014
Pros: price
Cons: See above
I guess for 45$ I should not be picky but low price should not prevent the owner from the following: -Changing the carpet -Make sure the furniture have not been damage by pets
