Nice hotel for over night stay, good pricePosted Oct 18, 2013
Pros: Room was spacious, shower pressure good, sufficient for an overnight stay, definitely good for pricing.
Cons: Curtains were sheer, and being on the first floor; lack of privacy Shower curtain had stains on it Bathroom note says: staff comes weekly vs daily
Location: Just stayed over night, near thruway, that's all we needed.
We needed to stay the night and the room was sufficient, fairly priced and spacious for our needs. Staff, very friendly. I would recommend this for an overnight stay. Shower curtain had stains on it, the note saying staff came weekly in the bathroom kind of freaked me out; although everything did look clean. Room temperature could be controlled, that was nice. Dryer is very old--it served it's purpose, but ladies bring your own if you have long hair. Interesting to have a kitchen--felt like a studio apt.

smoky and datedPosted Sep 22, 2013
Pros: location; room layout with small kitchenette
Cons: update cabinetry and finishes, everything was dated and worn out
Location: convenient to thruway
we requested a non-smoking room, but were told that since we arrived late and booked through a third party provider (expedia), we were not getting one. Needless to say, the room stunk and so did all our stuff after that night.

Perefect in every way, and very comfortable.Posted Jul 23, 2013
Cons: Any maid service at all would have been appreciated.
Everything was great, I stayed Friday night and went about business on Saturday, returning to the room in the early evening and absolutely no maid service was provided for my room. I found it exactly as I left it on Saturday morning.

Very comfortablePosted Jun 11, 2013 on Hotels.com
We had the one bedroom suite and it was very comfortable, staff was very accommodating, and the grounds were very nice. There was even a gazebo and outdoor grill we could use. Also, pet friendly. Great deal for the money.

terrible customer servicePosted May 29, 2013 on Hotels.com
The hotel was relatively comfortable, good value for the money but the customer service was absolutely terrible, all the way up to the manager. I did not get the two beds I requested and received a confirmation for, and the manager's best suggestion - as I was driving to the hotel from some distance away - was that I look for another hotel.

The facility does not provide the amentities offered by other hotels of comparable rates. Example, Embassy Suites which is just up the road has nicer accomodations, resturant and lounge. It also offers a free breakfast for rates comparable to what I paid. The accomodations at the Candlewood was more like a college dorm.

Overall a nice hotel for the money.Posted Oct 9, 2012
Pros: Quiet, can open window for fresh air, felt safe
Cons: Rooms need a thorough cleaning.
Location: Right off highways so easy when going places. Noise wasn't an issue especially w/AC on or windows closed.
I am a bit of a hotel snob after traveling a lot for business and staying in 5 star resorts so I have to remember when going to a place like Candlewood or the like that I won't have granite & marble in the bath, etc... but a soap dish would be nice. Hallways are spotless. The rooms could use a good overhaul of cleaning tho- for instance, polishing furniture (could see oily fingerprints from prior guests) Clean floors corners in the bathroom clean & moving chairs to vacuum (found dead bug, hairpin, wrapper) & maybe some drapery & carpet deep cleaning . I would prefer comforters to be washed in between stays - I don't think they do that here as there was a scent so I didn't use it. I know hotels are going green but I prefer clean too. Being an extended day, your room is not serviced daily. It was not a problem getting fresh towlels tho from front desk. We stayed in the queen studio suite and the fridge does make noise at night & if you use the AC, it is loud! But for a hotel that had all rooms full, it was amazingly quiet - we didn't hear doors slamming or people talking in hallways. And then of course, the temp dropped and couldn't figure out how to turn the heat on in the morning. We were checking out so I didn't bother calling the desk. The desk staff was always very helpful! I will stay here again when visiting family at SU and get a suite with separate living area as it was fairly clean, quiet and safe.
