Pros: The central location, the staff and the overall tastefulness of the furnishings. The fitness room was well equipped. Restaurant was great.
Location: Close to the hospitals, right off the highway, yet quiet.
The hotel was clean and well appointed. Every staff person I encountered was pleasant and helpful. My room was comfortable, clean and quit.

Not a good choice

Posted Oct 14, 2014
The price for the small room, which did not have dead bolt lock, microwave or sound proof doors, was raised to $335.00 to accommodate a University Alumni event. Second night, same room, $120.00 Shame on you Genesse Grande. Housekeeping staff had morning meetings in the hallway. Please, these rooms are not sound proof.

Lux near SU

Pros: It is clearly a local upscale classic!
Cons: The price did not seem justified given the nice but fairly ordinary rooms.
Location: A block and a half from the Syracuse Stage
The lobby is perhaps the most elegant part of this hotel. The rooms are very nice but I have to agree with others that you can save a hundred on a different nearby hotel and not notice much difference in quality. There are a lot of expensive cars in the lot so it seems to attract that crowd. I enjoy luxuries as well but likely won't spend the extra to stay here again given other options. The bar and restaurant are well appointed and the food was excellent.

Lovely ambiance, historic, friendly staff....

Posted Sep 16, 2014
Pros: Charm, historical, very quiet, welcoming and helpful staff
Cons: The rattling heater....
Location: There was a lot of construction around the area which may be difficult for out of towners who are not familiar with Syracuse.
The room was lovely, the staff was welcoming, and the breakfast was delicious (ordered room service and had the steel cut oatmeal with berries and raisins and peaches and it was absolutely wonderful!). My only issue was the heating unit in the room which made a lot of noise when it turned on....and it cycled about every 30 minutes or so....it was somewhat disruptive for sound sleep.

Pros: The room was in excellent condition, and the hotel staff was very accommodating to us.
Cons: Counter space in bathrooms.
Location: Within walking distance to Dome
Was very clean, comfortable, and liked the option of late check-in.
