Relaxing holidayPosted Nov 2, 2014
The staff were helpful and friendly. They went out of their way to cater for Gluten Free (cereal and biscuits with breakfast, pasta and gnocchi for dinner). This was great as after a long day exploring it was nice to come back to the hotel to relax and know we didn't have to go out again for a meal if we didn't feel like it. We fortunately had a car as it would be difficult to get around without it. The hotel is about 15 minutes drive from the centre of the city, and during the off season there were only taxis available if you wanted to go anywhere (costing about 20 Euros each way to Syracuse). Unfortunately the weather stopped us from using the pool area as it looked inviting.

Nice hotel if your looking for a base to explorePosted Oct 13, 2014
Pros: Nice grounds and apgreat swimming pool
Cons: Bedrooms could do with updating to make them more comfortable. Rugs on the bare tiled floors for example.
Location: Hotel is about 4 km from Syracuse so a car is essential. There are no shops or restaurants nearby.
Nice hotel if you are looking to combine some sightseeing with some lazing about by the pool. We ate in. The restaurant once, the meal was ok but a bit on the expensive side.a car is essentilal unless you are happy to sit by the pool all day and eat in the restaurant every night.

Hotel caiamarriPosted Oct 6, 2014
Pros: The swimming pool.
Cons: Much scope for improving the restaurant and developing the breakfast for those who do not eat cake. Scope also for brightening up common parts.
Location: It would have been useful to have more information available and material such as guide books. TV only in Italian.
We found the Caiamari good without being very good. The pool was very good and the gardens were pleasant. The breakfast was good but more orientated towards people with a sweet tooth with an excellent display of cakes. The savoury side was disappointing, with the local cheeses terribly salty. I would have loved to have seen some "prosciutto crudo" instead the ham seemed to come from a plastic container. We found the hotel very expensive for what it was. The restaurant was restricted with a limited selection, small portions and no vegetables. The staff were very pleasant and helpful and the chambermaid very good. TV had multiple stations but ONLY in Italian.

Very Quiet Hotel but really enjoyablePosted Oct 1, 2014
Pros: Hotel staff are execllent they go out of the way to help you arrange trip, locate area of interest for you.
Location: Car needed to sightsee, beach nearby which hotel provide a bus service . Taxi service a bit expensive 20.00 euros to Sircusa which is only about 10min
Location of hotel is about 10-15 minutes to sircuasa by car. I would strongly advise anyone booking this hotel to hire a car. There are no shops, restuarants in the nearby area. The rooms are very clean and comfortable and great air conditioning. The food was lovely both for breakfast and evening meal, my on criticism would be to change the evening meal menu more often, we were there for 7 nights and it was same menu every night. The pool area is excellent, bar service and beautiful gardens

Lovely Hotel, Great Staff, Area not the nicest around itPosted Oct 1, 2009
This is a really lovely small hotel - it is set in its own walled grounds, and it is a little oasis. The pools are huge and lovely. Restaurant is very good - lovely and relaxed when you eat outside, a bit formal when you eat inside (the lights are just too bright!) . Staff were great, really personal service. 18 rooms means it's big enough so you don't feel like a B&B, but not huge and impersonal either. The area outside of the hotel (ie the 4 miles to syracuse) are quite offputting - quite untidy, litter, etc - but honestly, try to see past that, as this hotel is a gem.

Great Countryside locationPosted Sep 23, 2007
Stayed here for a long weekend in Sept 07. The best things are the grounds and the swimming pools. The gardens are really a botanical garden, although they are not massive it gives the impression you are in the middle of the countryside. Excellent resturant, breakfast very nice buffet - They have a selection of traditional italian pastries too (as well as a selection of italian cakes which were fantastic). The swimming pools are very nice, extremely clean. The hotel seems to host quite a few weddings, however we were not affected by wedding guests over running the hotel at all (not like an English wedding party). We just saw one of the grooms get thrown in the swimming pool. Would not hesitate to return to this hotel.

Stunning building and groundsPosted Jul 7, 2007
This hotel is very glamorous, huge grounds, beautiful main building, fantastic infinity pool. You enter the hotel thru a long shady tree lined drive and the impressive view of the house hits you. It felt like entering a film set! Our room was large, with 2 single beds together to make a big double. The bathroom was huge also, with a double sized shower, and set up for disabled access which made it quite cumbersome. On the down side there was no private balcony or seating area , the rooms were on the ground floor and lacking privacy. The aircon controls were screwed shut, so it could not be turned down to cold, so the large room was always warm (it was 45* every day we were there). The restaurant was expensive but the food was good, as was the bar (E16 for 2 gin and tonics). The hotel is also a wedding venue and there were 3 in our 6 day stay, this often means the grounds are less assessable. These were very exciting and an interesting insight into Sicilian culture tho. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

A Delightful Hotel in Quiet AreaPosted Jun 17, 2007
We stayed at the Hotel Caiammari in May 2007.This 18 Room 4 Star Hotel is some 6 miles or so from Siracusa and is surrounded by delightful well-tended gardens. Most of the Standard Rooms are housed in single storey buildings within the garden area. The Rooms are of average size but have their own furnished terrace. There are 2 swimming pools the main one of an excellent size but with no depth markings and has no shallow end. This could be daunting for some! The Restaurant has a nice ambience and the food is of a high standard. The Buffet Breakfast by Italian standards was particularly good especially the Coffee (the best yet). The friendly Management and Staff of the Hotel played a major part in making our 8 day stay a most pleasureable one. Guests should be aware that the location of this place is such that a 10 minute drive is required to take you to the Historic Ortigia district. Guests should also note that the Hotel has facilities for Corporate events as well as Wedding Receptions Anniversary parties etc. so on occasion one does not get exclusive use of all the Hotel facilities! On balance this Hotel would be a good choice for a restful holiday in quiet surroundings with good food and also provides a good base to explore this part of Sicily away from the City bustle.
