“Beautiful hotel in the heart of Siracusa”
Hard to find because it is in the center of Ortygia Island which is the old town and so streets are very narrow and many are one way. Once you find it though it is a wonderful location - right next to the Duomo and the largest "hang out" piazza in town. It is walking distance to everywhere and the hotel itself is very nice - clean and modern with hi speed wi-fi. The staff were very friendly and helpful. If you are going to Siracusa then this hotel is hoighly recdommended.
“Excellent”
This hotel provides excleent value. The staff is great, the rooms excellent, and the location ideal. Highly recommended.
“centrally located. great service. excellent breakfast buffet.”
I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the ortygia/syracusa area. The staff was pleasant and helpful. The room was clean, comfotable and spacious. The bathroom was large enough for 2 people and the shower worked fine. The air conditioning was a major plus in the Augusut heat. Centrally located in the heart of Ortygia, very close to major attractions, restaurants and shopping, this is the hotel for a beautiful vacation.
“Nice time in Siracusa”
Hotel Roma was fabulous as was Ortygia. We would highly recommend staying on Ortygia as it has more everything than the main land Siracusa. Our room had a venetian balcony from which you could see the back side of the cathedral and part of the square. Breakfast was great (fantastic espresso). The hotel has valet and a nearby parking garage. Staff was helpful (impeccable English). FYI Signage and street widths on Ortygia are non existant we ended up circling the island 3X to find one-way via Roma - on first two drive by's it looked like a pedestrian street.
“The Roma is a gem, with prime location and a wonderful staff.”
The Roma is located right behind the Piazza del Duomo, site of the main cathedral (which is built on the remains of a Greek temple). This is the main piazza on the island of Ortigia, a stunning place. The Roma has undergone a beautiful restoration, with elements of the buildings history melded into what is a modern hotel. Each room that forms the hotel lobby is an architectural gem and the guest rooms are relatively large and very clean. There is nothing second rate about this place. The staff was courteous and offers of assistance genuine. The restaurant offerings were first rate and the breakfast buffet was not to be believed, with a huge, fresh selection; protein and carbs in a form that you are not likely to forget! I cannot say enough about how comfortable the staff made us feel -- concern about our comfort and happiness would be an understatement.
“Great Location; Please Update”
The Roma's location is perfect, so it would be hard to stay elsewhere. We had stayed there 5 years ago and loved everything about it--location, quiet, breakfasts, room layout, decor, service, amenities. This year the location and breakfasts remained top-notch, the shower was strong, robes and slippers were provided and bedding was perfect. We were disappointed by the awkward layout of the room, a suite, with a small unheated room that we used for our clothes, having no storage in the main room. The entry door, as well as a closet and the bathroom, opened onto the hallway between the two rooms causing frequent entanglement of doors and people. Many aspects of the room were in need of care: heater fan noise, non-operational heater and TV remotes, off-kilter toilet seat, chair with broken leg, rust around shower, and bouncy bed. A coffee pot was provided, but no coffee, only sugar. The front desk staff was amiable but not well informed about restaurants. The Roma is definitely in need of refurbishing--and we hope it happens before our next trip!
