Excellent location near all Ortigia has to offerPosted Jul 13, 2014
Pros: Location, character, small scale, friendly staff and great value for money
Cons: Own hotel bar would be good. Beds like most in the med are a tad firm for our liking and would think that providing mattress toppers would be good
Location: Access to Ortigia sites and best restaurants. Beach directly opposite the hotel.
Superb location and v helpful and friendly staff. Our room overlooking the bay with nice balcony was worth the extra money. There is no bar and you have to use adjacent facilities. Good choice of mainly cold food buffet breakfast but omelettes and bacon also available. The staff were so helpful in sorting out parking near the hotel which can be difficult.

Nice hotel with water viewPosted Jun 6, 2014
Pros: Location, water view, wi-fi. Helpful staff. Large shower.
Cons: Room decor, English TV channels, better bathroom ventilation.
The hotel is in a great location across a small street from the water with great views. The lobby and public areas are very nicely maintained. Wi-fi works very well, which wasn't always the case in Sicily. The staff was very helpful with the exception of one of the desk managers ( a man) to whom I mentioned that our A/C wasn't working. He said he would check into it but it remained off. I later found out that the A/C is switched at the main desk so it is apparently a simple matter to check if it is turned on. My guess is because the weather wasn't that warm that they didn't want to turn it on. Given we were paying premium rates for the room, it should have been included. The room was adequate but not overly fancy. There were no instructions for using the TV (relatively common among all the hotels we stayed in) and the remote didn't function properly but you could turn it on manually. I couldn't discover any English channels. The bathroom was nice with a full size shower but otherwise not overly roomy. Breakfast was fine.
Distinctly average - aside from great locationPosted Mar 31, 2014 on Hotels.com
We stayed for two nights last week. The hotel has a fantastic location and our view was wonderful from room 110. However I found the hotel to be very average - the decor is extremely dated and a bit shabby in parts (like a stained, faded old bedspread). It is a lovely building but needs updating to be more comfortable and smart. Also things annoyed me like the fact that the fuse box in our room gave off a loud constant buzzing noise and that the aircon didn't work. Service was lethargic - when I asked for the aircon to be fixed all they did was turn on the heating - aircon cooling aspect still didn't work but I just gave up. Breakfast is basic and not refilled frequently. I also saw a cockroach in the breakfast room one morning which the waitress freaked about - the reception guy nonchalantly kicked it out of the front door. To be fair the hotel seemed pretty clean to me and the roach could have come in from the street but it put me off my breakfast. In summary, I would not stay here again and would not recommend. Oly plus is the wondeful setting. If you don't get a sea view room then forget it.

Shower leaked, blinds were brokenPosted Feb 28, 2014
Pros: Great view, except if was blocked by blinds that were broken.
Cons: Besides the broken items in the room, the attitude of the staff could be more customer focused.
We had to park in a crowded construction area, the shower leaked, and the blinds were broken. When we raised the shower issues with management, they said they were aware of it shower and would fix it once we left. The room was expensive and the staff's approach in response to the issues we raised was to emphasize how great the view was from our window. We stayed in several other place in Sicily that were far less expensive, had great water views and helpful staff with for less "attitude."

Great hotelPosted Dec 15, 2013
Pros: Its position overlooking the sea
Cons: not much
Location: In the centre of things, good restaurants nearby and near many of 'the' sights. Concert theatre just round the corner.
Great hotel, right by the sea. Staff were friendly and helpful, except that they forgot to order a taxi from the airport - but I probably should have phoned the day before to remind them. The room was very clean and spacious and worth the 15 euros extra for the sea view. Breakfast was delicious. For those who can't walk far, it was a 20 min walk to busses.

Nice Hotel. Friendly staffPosted Oct 10, 2013
Pros: Saturday night Buffet /Dinner and Dinks in the Garden. Good value at 12 Euros and delicious freshly prepared food.
Cons: Coffee and kettle in rooms Bar for guests and lounge area to sit.
Location: Fantastic choice of restaurants and bars Sea front outside the door- lovely view from breakfast room. Puppet Theatre well worth visiting
I stayed for 6 nights, 3 in a garden room and 3 in a sea view room. Sea view room was best, it had a small balcony with French Windows. The Garden room had a tiny window high up that you couldn't see out of ,or open. Felt a bit like a dungeon. Would have liked tea/coffee making facilities in room as there is no restaurant/bar or room service. Had to go round the corner to a cafe to get a hot/cold drink.

Nice hotel at beautiful location.Posted Aug 28, 2013
Pros: The location, breakfast and very friendly staff. Simple but attractive decor that blends well with the original features of the old building.
Cons: Only PARTIAL view of the sea, tiny balcony and 3rd bed was an uncomfortable folding bed not suitable for an adult. Booking was for triple deluxe R. .
Location: Beautiful seafront and easy walking access to main sights, shops and restaurants, particularly the superb Piazza del Duomo. Knowledgeable staff.
On the whole, myself, wife and daughter enjoyed our stay in this hotel. The staff was charming and efficient and it was great to be able to walk everywhere and leave the car parked either in one of the two spaces belonging to the hotel or nearby. Slightly dissapointed that we were not in a deluxe room with a fulll view of the sea as booked, but restricted, and that the 3rd bed was a folding one and not comfortable. Extremely nice staff and lovely breakfast with real italian coffee which wasn't the case in the other hotels we had stayed.Ortigia is a beautiful island full of history with marvellous architecture, art, good restaurants and of course, the brilliant blue mediterranean! The beaches are not very near, but they are great for swimming in their crystalline waters. Syracuse is definitely worth visiting.

I do not recommend this hotelPosted Jul 2, 2013 on Hotels.com
There is no easy driving access to the hotel. Parking is on the street and its difficult to find a spot. Excellent free wi fi everywhere in the hotel. Worse breakfast food ever in Italy... cold dried scrambled eggs, old cheese... We had never experienced a bad breakfast in Italy before and we have traveled Italy extensively. I do not recommend this hotel.

Great location in OrtigiaPosted Jun 24, 2013
The hotel is located on the sea front and within a short walking distance to the main attractions (Duomo square). Walking back to the hotel late night was very safe. The rooms are large and aircon works really well. The breakfast is limited but enough to get by. Good choice for a short break.
