“wonderful hotel in quiet neighborhood with numerous dinning option nearby”

Room was clean and spacious. Staff was kind and courteous. Indoor heated pool and hot tub were wonderful way to end a busy day. There are several restaurants nearby. The hotel is in quite, safe neighborhood, but only blocks away from major highways. Rates were reasonalbe, I will select Shilo Inns whenever possible for my future travel plans.

very close to Point Defiance Zoo and Auquarium. Point Defiance has sevearl attractions in close proximity.

“Great Stay at the Shilo”

Needed a cheap, clean comfortable room in Tacoma and picked the Shilo. Everything was to our satisfaction. The room was clean, the breakfast was typical and the pool/spa area was spotless & functional. The staff was nice and everything was as excepted. Would choose this again if we were to go to Tacoma.

Area recommendations

We saw a great play at University of Puget Sound and a fun visit to the Tacoma Art museum. Would recommend them both as great attractions.

“Not a Shilo Fan”

This hotel was in need of a remodel. Beds caused both of our backs to hurt (this is not a problem we have), pillows were to flat if you could call them pillows. Shower head not much pressure. While staying here another member of our group had his vehicle broken into and items stolen from him. The surrounding area appears to be a lower rental area. Restaurant choices and freeway access are good. This hotel chain will not be on our list to stay at any time soon.

“Met our needs, exceeded our expectations”

The Shilo Inn was very convenient for an extended visit with family in Tacoma. The breakfast was very good with numerous options for our family. A couple of our favorite items ran short, but there were more than enough alternative items to fill the gap. Our kids loved the indoor pool, and the free wireless Internet access was sufficient if not terribly fast. The room was none too big, but was clean and up-to-date. 24-hour coffee was also a plus. We expected a clean, basic room with a few amenities, and we got that and a bit more. Very satisfied, would definitely stay again.

“convenient”

Had a great time using the pool and spa...they were terrific after the softball tournament we were staying there for. Rooms were clean, but not the most comfortable.

“very nice”

“Decent Room, Poor Service”

We arrived at around 2:15pm and knew we were a little early for the 3pm check-in. We had gotten used to receiving excellent front desk service from Embassy Suites, so we thought we would try to check-in early anyway. The desk clerk ignored me for five minutes while speaking about personal matters to the security guard, and when she finally turned to me, her smile immediately disappeared and was replaced with a look of annoyance. I asked hesitantly if I could check-in early, and without looking at me, just flat out told me to come back at 3pm. I left and returned to my family, but we decided to park ourselves in the lobby until 3pm. Concluding that the clerk was tired of us waiting just a few feet from her, she finally checked us in at around 2:45pm. The good news was that our room was clean and comfortable. The description of continental breakfast was accurate. I was somewhat confused by the in-room binder which describes the breakfast as "deluxe" - it really is just continental. However, it was a very decent continental breakfast offering: bagels, pastries, and make-it-yourself waffles, plus coffee.

Area recommendations

If you will be attending an event at the Tacoma Dome, I believe the best place to stay is at the Best Western on E Street. The Best Western is walking distance from the Dome and gets good reviews. I would have stayed there, but they were fully booked by the time I tried.

“Good for kids”

We needed a hotel for our baseball tournament. It has a great pool (and spa and sauna). The breakfast is decent...rolls, cereal, hard boiled eggs. I needed to print something and there was no printer available. The front desk offered to print it off for me. The staff was polite and courteous. The rooms were very clean. I would stay there again.

Decent place for a few nights stay to visit a friend at Ft. Lewis. Nearby food options and only 10 minutes from post.
