We were seeking a short term stay less than 12 hours as we had a layover and early AM. We had a street facing room on Floor 2 that had a lot of street car noise. On the other hand, restaurant on Lobby floor was nice and easy for a meal late evening!

Great hotel - not a 5 star luxury resort
This was a one night stay at the end of our trip in the French Polynesia. The hotel itself is very modern, great building, the elevator is a little loud (in a I'm-brand-new-and-being-used-for-the-first-time kind of way). They have smoking and non-smoking rooms available (HOT TIP: the smoking rooms basically just include a balcony, so if you want a balcony choose a smoking room). They have a restaurant in the hotel, but when we asked the concierge about food options she recommended that we still go out to nearby options (I like honesty). We had an issue with our first room, and they initially gave us a room with 2 double beds and we had requested a queen bed. Front desk sorted everything out for us and was very nice and friendly about it. Hotel has a free parking garage and free wifi in the lobby. Now I will move to the "negatives" which I stress are most likely due to our previous luxury stay. When we pulled up to the hotel in the car, there was no one to greet us or direct us to the garage. No one to offer to take bags or help unload the car. It was raining, but no umbrellas were offered. I believe this is a hotel that sees more business travelers. If you are coming for a romantic holiday and are ending your stay in Papeete, I don't recommend. If you are starting your vacation here then I highly recommend, it's a great hotel in a great location. Your expectations will still not be too high and I think this where we got a little disappointed with our stay.

Good stopover hotel
This was our stopover hotel. We stayed going and returning and our room on the return was like an apartment. Very nice and we enjoyed it. The area is not so great but for one night it is fine. Le Velvet is the house restaurant and it is excellent. We ate there three times!

It gets the job done but is too expensive.
The hotel was continently located but is way too expensive for what they offer. The breakfast is 40 usd per person. They also take advantage of the exchange rate. The pool was empty. This was not expressed anywhere. The AC in the room couldn't keep up during the day. The shower didn't have a curtain and water would end up going everywhere.

Nice hotel close to port
We stayed there as a rest stop for our cruise. We only stayed about 4 hours and had to pay the full night's rate because they don't offer a day rate. In fact none of the other hotels would do a day rate only. It was quiet and we got the rest we needed coming off an overnight flight

Bring your flash lights & seeing eye dog.
So dark that is is impossible to even use the bathroom mirror. Even the hallways are dangerous with such low lighting The floors are super slippery shiny tile - not good for the bathroom. The kitchen looks good but two forks, two spoons and that is about it! The staff is indifferent and not helpful. I would say the owners have never stepped into the hotel! The location is good but they really need to learn customer service. I recommend finding a hotel a little out of town and take a taxi.

Convenient but delapidated
Hotel is run down and in need of upgrading. Rooms were ok but facilities poor. The swimming pool had tiles peeling off and the water was murky with things floating in it. The breakfast is vastly overpriced - US$42 for an "American breakfast"!!!! On the positive side - easy walking distance to the marina and food trucks, staff friendly and helpful.

Nice downtown hotel
We arrived very late at night and were very cordially greeted by the receptionist. Room was clean and spacious. Free wifi, but only in the lobby area.No problems arranging transportation and tour packages. Hotel is in walking distance to restaurants, shopping and the ferry. Would stay there again. Also has excellent restaurant in hotel with service 7 days serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Number of people in room does matter
Was disappointed in the communication between hotel and hotel.com. We upgraded to two bedroom suite so parents could stay with us however upon arrival they were going to be extra for two people a lot extra. When I did book upgrade it only had two people listed and I did ask hotel.com to if needed to be changed to Four people they said no it's a two bedroom suite for four people.. I took their word for it and should have made sure number of people were changed. So we ended up paying for a two bedroom suite and they stayed somewhere else. NOT HAPPY

Great place for an overnight stay, close to ferry
We came in late at night planning to take the ferry in the morning to Moorea and the hotel was ideal. Check in was efficient, room was pleasantly outfitted. The two bedroom suite is great for a party of four (in our case, 2 adults and 2 adult children), very clean and well appointed. No wifi - lobby only but no great deal. Floor was very poorly lit but that was the only issue we had. Beds comfortable and bathrooms better than expected. Checkout was easy and only took us five mins to walk to ferry in morning. Perfect for us. However, may not suit others staying longer.

Nice inside, close to town centre
A lovely spacious top floor apartment. Most inclusions functioned well (one air conditioner did not work, difficult to slide the verandah door, no utensil cleaning materials, no corkscrew). Outside appearance was tired (paintwork peeling, pool with a large number of tiles loose on the bottom, entry to lifts from lower parking floors was dark, dingy and grubby). Cleaning was disappointing (one day the cleaner came late in the afternoon just before dinner … we had been out most of the day; the floor was not wet cleaned … we had to wear footwear to avoid black feet). Noise (it is on a major road leading to the main hospital …. sirens all day and night!)

The people at the front desk were very helpful Let us use the pool and shower room while we waited for our check in. The afternoon before we were supposed to start our cruise we booked for another day because we thought we couldn't board our ship until late the next night and when we found that we could board earlier they cancelled our booking and refunded our money. The desk person and manager went above and beyond...Thanks so much. We will recommend the hotel to anyone traveling in Tahiti. And we are retired airline employees so are in touch with a lot of travelers.

1 Night only for a comfortable bed.
Terrible shower that splashed water everywhere, no curtain and no drain!!! No Wifi in room. No ceiling lighting on access area. Floors are DARK! Beds were very comfortable and Junior suite was roomy, but very limited kitchen accessories. Overnight stay only. Not a holiday venue. Surrounding area looms like a shanty town, but close to shops and restaurants....when they are open.

Cons: If newness and room condition are at all important to you then you will not be happy. The paint was chipping off the walls in many spots. The pool and pool area was in horrendous condition. Pros: I had a fourth floor balcony room with a stunning Tahitian mountain view.

great location, close to ferries and restaurants. Hotel is run down, noisy if your room faces the main street. The pool area needs work ( tiles missing and decoration). Wifi only in the lobby, and very slow or not working. Expensive for what you get. Would recommend only if you board an early ferry or cruise.

Close to Cruise Ship Terminal
We stayed one night in preparation for a cruise. It is located on a very busy main street in Papeete and you can walk to the cruise ship terminal. Be aware that they are doing road construction and you have to walk a lot further down the road to actually cross the street. It can be daunting in the hot and humid weather. My advice is to take a cab. The staff were friendly. I would not stay here any more than one night.

The hotel overall was great though it is quite dark inside the hotel. All the staff we dealt with were excellent, friendly and helpful. We were able to store some of our luggage at the hotel when we spent two nights on Moorea which was great and we were able to have a shower on our return before heading to the airport. The only thing that lets the hotel down is the state of the swimming pool and the area surrounding it both if which need some work done to improve this facility. The pool I felt was quite dangerous with so many of the tiles missing. Other than that it was a good place to stay and we enjoyed it there.

Nice hotel in a rundown town.
I have no complaints about the hotel, the staff were friendly, they allowed us to check in 30 minutes early and the room itself was spacious and clean. I would rate it as a good standard 4 star hotel, I did not use any of the restaurant facilities, so I cannot comment on these, however, I can say that the hotel bar was deserted on a Saturday night. I can only describe Papeete as a 'dump', sadly neglected and in urgent need of regeneration. There was no nightlife to speak of, the prices were extortionate and the natives not exactly friendly. Papeete, Tahiti, seen it, done it, won't be returning. For anyone flying to Tahiti, please note that Air Tahiti Nui pack you in tighter than sardines, 8 hours of pure torture!

Excellent facility conveniently located
This is a spotless modern, friendly hotel in the middle of town - not a glamorous location. However, just a few blocks from the car rental agency which makes it easy to arrange getting around. The staff was wonderful, the facility fastidious, the internet connection excellent, good AC, and an excellent (though somewhat expensive) restaurant. Secure parking at the hotel is free. The ONLY drawback for us was the tendency - in the entire hotel - to keep the illumination at an exceedingly low level. It was so low, in fact, that we had to use a flashlight to read the menu in the bar. There is a place between the parking garage and the elevator where you are plunged into TOTAL darkness.

Walking distance to ferry an shops
Upon arrival we checked in which all went smoothly until we tried to ride on the elevator up to which took us a long time and wouldn't work with the room card luckily someone else was using it as well and we went up to our floor. Getting to our floor we found our room which also didn't work when we tried to open the door. So I went back down to the lobby and by this time there was a line of about 10 people waiting so I got in line and waited after about 20 minutes I finally got served while the two receptionists were answering phones in the meantime. I got a new card and proceeded back up to my room where my wife was waiting with our bags for about half an hour by now. Anyway got to the door and tried the key. It didn't work I was starting to rage inside now I said lets go somewhere else. She said try it one more time so I did and finally we were in our room. The room was nice but the walls are paper thin you can hear people all around you moving and pulling out chairs ect. It was quite hard to shower under the tiny nozzle but at least it was a good temperature. After showering we decided to contact our loved ones on the wifi provided. When we tried to connect nothing. This hotel only offers wifi in the lobby which to me is a joke you have to sit down there to make Skype calls or go on Facebook it wasn't pleasant. All in all I'm happy we only had to stay here one night which was bad enough for me

Lots of Potential
Stayed Jan 25 to Jan 29. This could be a grand hotel if the facilities and fixtures were kept up to date and/or repaired. The location is both heaven and hell. Heaven: It is located on the main thoroughfare of Tahiti downtown. It is in walking distance of virtually everything in Papeete and, should one prefer an auto, has a spacious no-fee garage beneath the hotel. Hell: It is located on the main thoroughfare of Tahiti downtown. We had a street view with a "not so picturesque" 3-story apartment/shops building across the street (laundry and boxer shorts clad gentleman on display, etc.). Street noise was loud and constant. The room was spacious and well appointed, but furnishings were somewhat used and abused (don't turn over the sofa cushions)! There were lots of minor repairs needed throughout the hotel. Room service was nonexistent as was the pool staff. The ice machines on the floor (3) had been recently removed (even the maids were surprised) so for ice we trekked to the hotel bar. The pool was very nice for swimming laps or just soaking. Depth was about a meter and a half throughout. The restaurant food was extraordinary and the bar was nice. The staff of both were excellent. The front desk staff were also excellent and extremely helpful. Again, save for traffic noise, this could be a grand hotel if the facilities and fixtures were kept up to date and/or repaired. Even as is, it compares favorably with "luxury" hotels near Papeete. I would definitely stay there again.

Bad hotel in a very tired, noisy city
The hotel was difficult to get to from cruise ship. The sign indicating the name of the hotel was so small we missed it. NO internet in room only in the uncomfortable lobby. The breakfast was $22 USD and so, so. Very few restaurants near by. There was ONLY one mirror in the room and that was in the bathroom which had VERY poor lighting, The hallway to the rooms was very poorly lighted and had elevated areas by some doors. No safe in the room and the apartment across from our room looked questionable. I would definitely not recommend Papeete or this hotel

Great Hotel for Families in Transit through Tahiti
I booked this hotel 4 months ago & then was worried that I had made a bad decision from some recent reviews. My fears were unfounded. We stayed there on our inbound and outbound trips and were very happy with the hotel. We arrived early after a flight from LAX. While we could not get into our room until 1 pm, reception offered us access to the pool & showers. This was greatly appreciated. Access to the convenience store next door at the gas station was a huge benefit. Even though the policy is no outside food or drink, we brought in food several times. Our suite had a full kitchen (no microwave) with some utensils, plates, etc. It was great to have easy access to snacks and breakfast (especially with a need to be at the airport at 6:30 am on our departure day!) On our 2nd stay, we rented a car so that we could drive around the island -- parking at the hotel is easy access & FREE! There have been negative comments in other reviews about the hallway lights and the surroundings. This is a hotel in the city center - not a pristine, resort area. However, we never felt unsafe. Occasionally there are Tahitians sitting on the sidewalks and they may say "bon jour" as you walk by. But they never harassed us. In terms of lighting, the only time that I could think it would be a problem is if you arrive at night and need to find your room for the first time. Low light levels are the norm in Tahiti (as experienced at our 5* resort), so "when in Rome" just go with the flow!
