An exquisite 17th Century country hotel, set in it's own walled garden, with a walled vegetable garden originally cultivated by 8th century monks and containing a special prayer lookout, a ruined castle whose original grassy drive leads down to a delightful beach with a wild salmon run and cormorants fishing off the rocks, and a dovecot with its' own wind vane commemorating the estate factor. The food is superb and is based on local Scottish produce, freshly cooked each day according to what is available seasonally to the chefs. The staff are friendly, hospitable and will do everything in their power to supply all wishes. There are excellent selections of wines and whisky, as one would expect from a hotel owned by Glenmorangie, part of the Louis Vuitton, Moet Hennessy group.
