Good Hotel Close to Nangang Exhibition Center

Posted Sep 25, 2013
Pros: Convenient, friendly staff
Cons: better insulation in the walls
Location: Not a whole lot to do nearby, but I enjoyed walking through the streets near the MRT station and found some good food.
I found the Gallery when looking for an inexpensive, but decent alternative close to Nangang. Overall the hotel was good, clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The walls of the rooms were a bit thin, and though I could hear the TV next door, my neighbors were good enough to turn it off before too late. The hotel is a pleasant walk (10 minutes) from the MRT.

Terrible breakfast

They need to fix their breakfast, its embarrassingly bad. I would have given the hotel a 4 otherwise.

Decent place, bad spot

The hotel itself is fine. Clean. The room smelled of something I couldn't quite place. But it was 15 minutes to the metro. So, you're better off taking a taxi if you don't want to walk.

Suburban location, helpful staff, "chinese" smell

Posted Oct 29, 2012 on Hotels.com
Hotel is OK, staff very helpful. The location is suburban, 10 minutes walk to nearest metro station + 12 minute ride to Taipei 101. Neighbourhood is grimy, hole in wall mom and pop shops and cafes, no restaurant of any reasonable intl standard. Hotel has "chinese" smell (I am not being racist, but this is a smell which is famously absent in the higher end branded hotels) and it bleeds into western inhouse cooking. Room service has 3 items and is limited to hotel restaurant hours. Breakfast inlcuded but suffers from similar bleeding of chinese flavours into eggs, etc. It's a good holel if your business is further "out" at Nangang exhibition or academica sinica: not good if you are on holiday and want to live near to the action.

Gallery Hotel Review

Pros: Service is good.
Cons: Food isn't so fresh.
Location: Place is ok
Service was great. Clean room. Staff is friendly. I only have 2 things to criticize. 1 - Most staffs can't speak english (the front desk does know, however). 2 - Their buffet selection is almost the same during our stay there (breakfast and dinner) Sometimes I feel that breakfast is leftovers from dinner and dinner leftover from breakfast. Food is safe. But a bit boring.

solid choice

Service and condition is very good and the stuff is very friendly. Location is a bit off-center and the neighborhood has industrial feel, but the subway is 10 min walk (if you know where to go) and you can get to everywhere else in taipei very efficiently.
