Overall great

Awesome location cant be beaten. All the public areas - lobby etc look very nice and the breakfast buffet is fantastic -best I have seen. Howeevr the rooms need a bit of attention, loose tiles, dirty edgings etc, and the ceilings are lot lower than what I would expect.

Grand Hyatt Taipei... Best location & staff

Posted Mar 31, 2013
Pros: Staff in every way exceed most hotels.
Cons: dreadful soundproofing in the rooms.
Location: Perfect for business and personal.
The sound insulation is dreadful. Hallway and adjacent guest room noise is unavoidable. Staff rings the bell of the next room, you're up to answer the door. Club staff (temporarily relocated to 2nd floor mezzanine during renovations) was outstanding. They are very courteous and professional. Fitness facilities are clean and well equipped. Space is a little tight, not due to allocated space, but more to the abundance of machines and equipment. I'd still rate it a 4.5. And the fitness facility staff is great... courteous and contantly refreshing towels and wiping down equipment. Amazing buffet in the first floor buffet, but you're best to choose elsewhere if you want a quiet lunch or lunch meeting. Many hotels seem to overlook the fact that people like to drink a lot of fresh water. Genrally, you'll get a couple of complimentary bottles and take out a mortgage for any water from the minibar. Housekeeping left several extra waters on Day 2 and beyond after seeing that I had several bottles from the room and the gym in my trash. Important element of travel comfort in my book. With the exception of the sound insulation, which can be very distracting, the facilities and staff really are outstanding. Hopefully, the hotel's current renovations will solve this problem. And the central location puts you 'seconds' from Taipei 101 and the Taiwan World Trade Center, minutes from many great restaurants like Alley 45 Yixian Rd Shaffer's Kitchen. We will choose the Grand Hyatt again.

Great downtown Hyatt

Posted Mar 2, 2013
Pros: Downtown Top Class
I stay at this same hotel once a year. Perfectly situated in the heart of downtown, a short walk to the 101 building. The staff is extremely attentive and exactly what you would expect of a hotel of this caliber.

Dec 2012 stay

Posted Jan 2, 2013
Grand Hyatt provided amazing service to us whilst we were there. The ease of mind of knowing that they will punctually and competently serve all your requests is invaluable to the business traveller. The breakfast buffet was of above average quality, nothing to complain here. They are refurbishing the whole hotel. I got a cheap deal in the older rooms, whilst they were spacious, they were nowhere near five star quality. Closer to three star. This was disappointing. I would not stay in the Grand Hyatt again because price is an issue for me, but I would recommend it to anyone (particularly families and business travellers) who want a no-nonsense hotel that provides exceptional service (albeit at a price).

great location by Taipep 101

Posted Dec 25, 2012
Pros: location
Cons: breakfast choice
Location: it is right by Taipe 101 where everyone visits in Taipei. Lots of restaurant and department stores are 5 minutes walk.
It is right by Taipei 101, and very convenient location, not a downtown loaction where night markets are, but very confortable, and amenities and staff/service were great.
