The front office needs to be tidy。I saw the restaurant check out desk was a mess. I was dining in one night, and they would took dishes or objects in front of me, but without asking me first, which is rude. The guys at front door area were nice but their uniform were loose and unfit, no spiritual expression. Plus , they were a little old, although this is not an important issue. The hotel check in and check out service were excellent. People were polite, efficient, and very accurate! I rate them the best! we stayed for 4 days, front desk staff very indifferent , same as the breakfast buffet, staff need to be asked may times to take away used plates, dinner buffet so over priced with poor variety of choice. food not fresh at all! and do not use the hotel phone to call anywhere even within the city , they charge you like the telecom system in 1980's !

Vegas meets Taipei. Friend recommended it. Historic and representative of regional culture but feels like a tourist trap. Architectually interesting, but the same way I feel that Caesars Palace is interesting.

The property is nice however the staff aren't very friendly. No toiletries in the bathroom for a 5 star hotel. We were there during the earthquake and there was no announcements or anything from the hotel. It's also far from the city center but they provide shuttle service to the closest subway.

The lobby and the hallway of the hotel looks great with the classic traditional decoration. Its clean and quiet away from the bustling noise of the cars. The staffs also speaks English well so its very easy to communicate with them to ask for recokmendations and directions. The hotel also offers shuttle service going to the MRT.

The staff at front desk (a young man of 20s on March 19) has horrible attitude. The hotel refused to give me a standard hotel itemized checkout receipt. It is getting worse. Very crowded and noisy. Not a place to stay for business travels. I used to stay here for the past 10 years, not any more given what happened this time.

Wonderful historic hotel, beautifully maintained in an ideal location. Truly an icon. Treat yourself to one of the nicer rooms, definately worth spending a little more! I make it a point to stay there for at least one night when ever I am in Taipei.

A unique Chinese palace design hotel experience; expensive buffet breakfast or a la carte room service; regular free shuttle to the nearest subway station and also to the nearest night market on weekends; one bedroom suite is like a Hilton Homewood suite with a bar, an office table, a spacious sitting room and a large balcony but without a kitchen. It is priced about the same as a NYC area hotel. I like this hotel.

Don't stay here if you plan on using public transportation to get around. Taxi drivers need to go around in circles cause only one entrance getting into the hotel. Upon lots of traffic and this circling is like an 15-30 min depending on which direction you are coming from. Very formal and clean. Nice to just stay once and probably not leave the premises. You see this beautiful building from afar and pretty grand and RED when you get inside.

A unique hotel in Classical Chinese palace style with modern plumbing. The economy room is small but well designed. It can accommodate a couple without much luggage without any problem. Good bathroom with bath tub and separate shower. Expensive buffet breakfast crowded with group tour travelers in a hurry. I enjoy my stay here.
