Tajiri is located 85 miles (137 kilometers) east of Nagoya and 95 miles (153 kilometers) southwest of the national capital, Tokyo.
Tajiri isn't the only spot in this popular region worth seeing; visitors with plenty of time can also hit the road and discover the magic of the nearby scenery, towns and cities. Kakegawa, 19 miles (31 kilometers) to the east, and Nishiizu, 25 miles (40 kilometers) to the west of Tajiri are good spots to check out if you have the time.
Around 35 miles (56 kilometers) to the east of Tajiri is Shimoda, an important regional city home to Cape Tsumeki, Mount Nesugatayama Observatory and Shimoda Aquarium. Shirahama Jinja Shrine, Sotoura Beach and Tsumekizaki are also good to visit.
Stop at Osaka 's historically significant castles, it's an excellent way to learn about the region's colorful past. Fuel your mind by spending a few hours at Osaka 's fascinating art galleries, indoor markets and art museums.
Combine a little learning with leisure on your travels by spending time with a knowledgeable guide on one of Tajiri's excellent city walking tours, cycling tours and guided nature walks. When you are ready to relax, try wildlife watching or shore fishing.
At the end of your adventure in Tajiri, put the lens cap back on your camera, spend your last of your yen on last-minute souvenirs, and bid a fond Sayōnara (farewell) to this unique vacation spot.
