“Helpful and charming”

My husband and I recently spent 5 days at the Merchants house Hotel and thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. The room was clean and comfortable. The staff were helpful and polite. The free sauna was much appreciated and the excellent location of the hotel - which is literally only a couple of minutes away from the main square and the Town Hall was just perfect. The only drawback for me personally was that there was no lift in the hotel and we were on the third floor. The breakfasts were more than ample and we had many choices of hot and cold dishes. There were no coffee and tea making facilities in the room and being English one was longing for a cuppa. When we approached the desk and spoke to the person on reception, a kettle, tea bags, cups and saucers etc were sent up to our room within minutes. We would definitely recommend this hotel to our friends.

I was thrilled with this hotel. It's location was fantastic, it was elegant and spohisticated, the room was very comfortable and thet staff endlessly helpful. My only suggestion would be that they put slow closing hinges on the doors as some rooms were quite noisy with door slamming. It was just terrific and Tallinn is heavenly in the snow. Go!

“Excellent city break to Tallinn”

Booked 3 nights (August BH 2010) in the Merchants House Hotel for 4 people, two travelling via Heathrow and others via Manchester. Range of ages including elderly mother. Realising the hotel didn't have lift I contacted manager to see if lower floor room could be booked to save climbing stairs. Response was prompt and very helpful and everything was arranged. Recommended booking restaurant on Saturday night which he did for us. Even met us in reception on arrival. Excellent hotel, warm welcome, very friendly staff. Rooms very good. Wonderful old hotel, very comfortable. And so convenient for old town and square. Would always go back to this hotel.

Plenty to see and do.Buy a Tallinn card,well worth the money.Use it for museums,zoo and the trams.Easy to get around the city and it feels safe. Good choice of food available. Nice coffee shops and the cakes are wonderful.

“Very good hotel”

We were staying in the hotel for two nights at Christmas. We got a Christmas sock with small present in the morning with invitation to join Santa in the hotel bar. So, we got two Irish coffees for free. Breakfast was very good also. Great chose of fruits melon, pineapple, pears, apples, grapes. Good chose of hot meal. All meal was very delicious. The room was a little bit small, but very comfortable and cosy. It's possible to book sauna in the hotel and you can enjoy hot sauna with your friends only, without other hotel guests. We were just two. There is a fireplace in the hotel bar. Because of the hotel, our trip was very romantic and we were full of Christmas moods.

Centrally placed with almost immediate access to many of the sights.Rooms clean, with good daily maintenance. Staff always very friendly and helpful.

“Great location”

Hotel is very quaint, cute. Excellant location - 1/2 block from the old town square. Because of the old town square, taxi's can't get to the hotel - they drop you off and pick you up 1/2 block away (slight uphill on cobblestone street with lots of tourists - pack light!). Staff speaks great English, but no warmth or personality.
