Perfect Location at a very reasonable price

I booked the Old Town Garden Hotel for a weekend away and am very pleased that I did! The hotel is just a15 minute taxi ride from the airport. The entrance to the hotel is via a cobbled alleyway. The reception area reflects the rest of the hotel, in that it's compact and attractive, having been shoe-horned into a renovated old building. We had standard double room booked - the room was small but adequate, comfortable and warm - very important as it was very cold outside. There was a wet room, and the shower took a bit of getting used to but was fine, and a hair dryer was provided. The room had a tv with access to BBC World News, and a selection of European channels. There was also a kettle so you could make a cup of tea or coffee in the morning (one little tip: they provide sachets of a 3-in-1 coffee, eg. Powdered milk and sweetener combined with instant coffee - if you prefer black coffee you will need to go to a grocery shop or bring some of your own). Breakfast was between 7am and 10am, in the cafe adjacent. There was plenty to choose from, both hot (sausage, bacon, scrambled egg) and cold cuts, cereals, breads for toasting, rolls, fresh fruit - excellent selection. The location of the hotel could not have been better, being within just a few minutes stroll from the main town square and all the amenities, cafes, restaurants, sites and sounds. I would definitely recommend this as a very affordable, good value, well located base from which to explore the beauty of Tallinn.

Well located, but a tiny room!

The hotel is extremely well located, inside the city town. However, it is - probably because it's an old heritage building - quite small. It's a nice hotel, if you don't mind the tightness.

Hotel in the heart of Tallinn
Posted Jan 28, 2012
Pros: Location, reception, breakfast.
Cons: Tiny standard double room
Location: The hotel is located in old town near the town hall
Good location, large breakfast, good condition. There is no space to put bags and things in standard double room, uncomfortable shower. Spacious garden room for the family with children - my fiends stayed there.

Very central

Great location, very friendly and helpful staff. Rooms (at least my economy single) are really, really small but have all the essentials.

A comfortable stay in Tallinn
Posted Jan 2, 2012
A comfortable hotel in a very central location. The reception staff were particularly helpful. It is worth paying extra for the standard room (rather than the economy room) as it was large with a sofa area to sit and relax. We went in the winter and the hotel was very warm. A couple of small issues were: The hot breakfast is kept in heated containers but was not very hot when I ate it. There are no face flannels in the bathrooms and you cannot buy them easily from shops.

Creaky bunk beds in a closet.
Posted Jan 26, 2012
Pros: Clean as heck!
Cons: Creaky bunk beds in a room the size of a closet.
Location: Perfect - right in the middle of Old Town.
They put us in a room the size of a closet with bunk beds that creaked loudly. The toilet gets in the way when you try to shower. There is no place to put your suitcases. Terrible. However, everything ELSE was perfect, strangely enough.

Friendly and easy

Service in English (not Finnish) but friendly. Room acces through courtyard, quiet but likely problems with soundinsulatoin in crowded situations. Room was very small, only one chair and a very small table. Cleaning carelessly done - lot of dust in corners and surfaces. Toilet very basic and tight.

Tiny Room, Good Breakfast
Posted Jan 20, 2012 on Hotels.com
Booked the economy room on-line, not realizing that it was going to be the tiniest hotel room I’ve ever seen, with bunk beds. It was ok for one night, but had to find something more livable for the second night. The bathroom was minuscule as well, with half a sink that was hard to get to without bumping your head on the shelf above it. The location is good, inside the old town and easy to walk anywhere. Breakfast was good too. The free wi-fi was handy.
