Amenities lacking

Posted May 19, 2014
Cons: Everything
Location: Downtown Tampa
The Residence hotel next door offered free breakfast and was nicer overall. Fourteen dollars to park , no free breakfast, no ice machine, hallway smelled. I will never stay at a Courtyard Marriott again.

Convenient downtown location

Posted Mar 27, 2014
Pros: Very easy checkin/out, comfortable and clean rooms. Great location.
Cons: Clarity on the valet parking policy. Parking is limited, which is understandable due to the location in the heart of the city.
Location: Located in downtown Tampa with EVERYTHING nearby! Suttle bus will take you where you need to go in the downtown area.
I just needed a place to sleep for the night while I attended a show in Tampa. The rooms look like they were recently remodeled. Very tidy and the bed was comfortable. I had a king bed room, it had a nice little couch and coffee table, tv, dresser, desk, coffee maker, and free wi-fi. No fridge but I didn't need one. There is a cafe in the lobby where you can get snacks and drinks and I think they serve breakfast but I didn't see an actual restaurant. Parking is extremely limited, and I think they might charge a fee whether you use their valet or not, but there are tons of places to park yourself close by. There was some confusion over the parking fee at checkout so they didn't charge me anything for the valet :) Overall, a good experience and one of the better Courtyard Marriott hotels that I have stayed at.

Nice hotel a short cab ride away from conv.center.

Posted Mar 25, 2014
Pros: Shuttle bus very handy and took me most anywhere downtown. Staff was very nice.
Cons: Increase snack bar hours during the week. Be a little more accommodating to business travelers that need a late check out that are rewards members.
Location: Located downtown, the hotel is close to restaurants, shops and the convention center. Great business hotel for those that travel frequently.
The lobby was very clean and nice with comfortable furnishings. The hotel snack bar has limited hours during the week but much longer hours on the weekend. The rooms are comfortable and the staff was very nice. The free shuttle was very handy and they would take you most anywhere downtown without much of a wait. I would make sure to utilize this service as cabs aren't readily available on this side of downtown. The valet staff usually has to call for them and it is anywhere from a 5-15 minute wait.

Convenient

Posted Feb 26, 2014
Cons: There were no towels available for the pool on Sunday early afternoon... had to return to room and get bath towel
I was in town for Gasparilla Distance Classic. This hotel was perfect distance from starting lines for the races, giving me about a half mile warm-up run prior to each race day.

Great location but that's about it

Posted Feb 24, 2014
Location: The location is the only redeeming quality of this hotel. It's right downtown and within walking distance of tons of restaurants and the River Walk.
Not since I stayed at a truly terrifying discount motel in Kissimmee have I felt so strongly about never returning to a particular hotel. The first problem was the parking situation. The listing warns of a valet parking fee, but as it turns out, it's a $14 fee regardless of whether you valet or self-park, because they have no parking garage. If you opt for valet, they just park your car in a public parking garage for you, and regardless, if you want to get your car out at any point, you'll have to pay again to put it back in. There is no mini-fridge, and no ice machine on the floor. There was a fridge on each floor that was supposed to have bags of ice, but when we checked in both ours and the one on the floor below were emptied. I called the front desk to ask for more, and 3 hours later... still empty. The room was clean enough, by no means glamorous, and once night came it became obvious that you can hear everything that goes on in the entire hotel. The air conditioning unit fan speed ranged only from deafening to thunderous, or the noise outside the room would have been worse. As it was, you could hear everything going on in the hallways and rooms above, including slamming doors, screaming people, and every time anyone in the entire hotel took a step. The staff seemed more interested in playing on their phones than in helping the guests, and the desk was often unmanned. The area doesn't lack for other hotels - my advice: stay in one of those.

Jen, I want to thank you for the comments, I only wish your stay would have been better! I would like to offer a correction. As you mentioned, we do have a nightly parking rate of $14.00. With that said, we are a downtown location and do offer one of the lowest rates for all the hotels in the downtown area and all of them chargefor parking as in most all major cities. Unlike in your comments this charge is only nightly and you do not pay each time your car is moved. I do apologize about the noise issue. We really do not have many issues with noise especially inside the building . We look for ways to improve in all our reviews and will take this back to the team to discuss and hopefully improve for our future guests. Thank you and safe travels.

Overpriced Stay w/ Very Limited Services

Posted Feb 19, 2014 on Hotels.com
I will start out by saying there was nothing wrong with the hotel, room, or staff, however, I found the prices very expensive, for a Marriott Courtyard. Paid $189/night when other travelling companions paid $139/night. When I approached front desk to discuss getting some reduction in price, I was told the hotel was full and no adjustment could be given . Also, they charge a hefty price for parking per day and the only option is Valet Parking, adding more to overall cost. Location of hotel isn't all that special. There are other major brand hotels in eye-shot of this hotel I would look elsewhere before ever staying here again. Pool is outside but heated. Hot-tub is outside near pool, but small.

John, Thank you or the feedback regarding your stay. As for your questions regarding the price difference hotels are much like airlines and sometimes other guest may have qualified rates such as AAA that offers them a lower rate. With that said January through April is our high season in Florida and our rates ar generally higher due to demand. So hopefully that may assist in answering that concern. As for the parking we are the cheapest hotel for parking located in downtown. Being located in an urban area we do charge for parking but the other hotels in downtown are either the same rate or higher. Again, I do apologize that we did not meet some of your expectations but I would assume that the rooms and the level of service were fine since you did not mention that area. Thanks again.

It was surprisingly nice for a good price. The stag was really courteous and the beds were comfortable. I would definitely stay there again.

Staff very helpful with getting transportation, directions and suggestions for restaurants. Shuttle driver was too involved in his private telephone conversation to be helpful to passengers.
