“Take a Taxi”

The hotel itself is great quality for the price. Front desk check in was quick and easy, room was very clean, the bed was one of the most comfortable beds we have slept in at a hotel. My husband and I travel a lot and can navigate around cities quite easily, but this hotel is located where you really have to be extra careful or you miss the exit. We had a early flight out and needed to be at the airport at 5:30 am and they don't start airport shuttle until 6 am so we had to call a cab. If you are staying here because it's close to the airport I wouldn't recommend you stay here. If you are looking at staying somewhere nice with a great view of the bay and relaxing then by all means stay here.

Area recommendations

Depends what you are going to Tampa to do, leisure, business or for family. There are many great areas to stay in.

“Doubletree Suites Tampa”

Very nice suite. Pillow top king bed was extra comfortable. Surrounded by great restaurants and clubs. no complaints at all. Visit Bahama Breeze two minutes away by car. Within walking distance if you plan on getting tanked. And you just might, considering the atmosphere of reggae tunes and tropical drinks.

Area recommendations

Visit Clearwater Beach for the Gulf and Honeymoon Island State Park for a romantic secluded beach.

“comfortable suite”

Very comfortable, clean suite. The only issue at all was a drippy sink that they tried to fix, but somewhat unsuccessfully. I would highly recommend this hotel for business travelers especially.

“Double Tree on the Bay”

We stayed at this hotel for 4 days. The place is well kept. Our room was very clean and quite spacious. Our room a bay view on the 6th floor. The view was amazing we watched the local fishing boats come and go. There were also Pink Flamingo's feeding in the bay in the morning.

Area recommendations

Ybore City is a great place to walk and dine.A great place to spend the day. Some small shops there too.

“Overall Acceptable”

Our stay was for 2 days ovre Friday and Saturday, check out Sunday morning. King Suite overlooking the bay. Rooms were very clean, comfy, large. Everything in order. Checkin was a little slow since I had prepaid for room. Avoid the Hotel Bar. The bartender is not a "bartender". Had to look up how to make drinks. When he made them they were terrible. Closet rack fell out of wall and maintenance promptly fixed it. Bathroom was clean. Could use a little updating but, decent. Linens we nice. 2 flat panel TVS were nice. Overall it was an acceptable room and would stay again if needed to be in Tampa.

Area recommendations

If you are headed to Tampa you have to go to Ybor CIty. We had Bernini's for dinner and then the Columbia for drinks. The columbia looks like the menu may be great also for dinner.

“Not bad for the money”

The hotel staff was very friendly and the shuttle drivers were accomodating. The hotel could use an update. The bar was only open in the evnings and the restaurant had a limited menu which was average quality at best. It wasn't bad for the price.

“Great Staff and Service”

Loved the location of this hotel as well as the friendly - and - helpful staff!! While in Tampa we went to a Bucs game as well as a concert and although the free shuttlle is limited to where it goes, it was a tremendous service for us. Would definitely stay again.

“Beautiful property, Spacious Suite!”

DoubleTree Suites at Tampa Bay is an excellent property with well kept suites and friendly service. Compared to other hotels nearby, the DoubleTree surpasses them both in quality and upkeep. It is a very short drive from the Tampa Airport, and offers a beautiful view of Tampa Bay and the natural bird sanctuaries on the north end of the hotel. Our 1 bedroom suite was huge, and filled with new features including new modern light fixtures, carpeting, furniture and large windows overlooking the pool and the bay. Highly recommend staying here!
