Pros: close to airport
Location: everything is nearby shopping, eaterys, statums
stayed for 5 days had a great stay. clean, friendly close to airport, eaterys,shopping. the staff was very friendly. will do it again!

The non smoking room that we ordered smelled like smoke and the mirrors weren't cleaned the carpet smelt like a wet dog, no I would never stay at a Howard Johnson again, neither would I recommend it to anyone

Pros: NOT THE AC
Cons: MAKE SURE THE GUEST GET ALL THE APPLIANCES AND THE AC WORKING
Location: NONE; IT WAS A ONE NIGHT STAND AT TAMPA FOR A MEETING AND THEN HEAD BACK TO MIAMI
THE AC WAS NOT WORKIMG. IT WAS A ONE NIGHT STAND WITH MY WIFE, BECAUSE I HAD TO LEAVE THE NEXT DAY. AT ABOUT 1:45AM I WANTED TO TURN ON THE AC BUT IT WAS NOT WORKING. ALTHOUGH IT WAS NOT HOT ENOUGH FOR ME TO TURN ON THE AC, MY WIFE WAS FEELING HOT. IN THE MORNING I LET THE LADY KNOW ABOUT OUR INCONVENIENCE AND IF I AT LEAST WOULD GET A DISCOUNT FOR THE DISCOMFORT, BUT THE ANSWER WAS, THAT SINCE I PAID ON LINE THROUGH EXPEDIA, THEY COULD NOT GIVE ME ANY DISCOUNTS. AND THAT WAS IT.

This place is fairly near the airport and fairly cheap, but there's nothing else good to say about it. The beds are lumpy, uneven, and hard on the back. The carpet is filthy; I resorted to wearing flip-flops to the shower. The air conditioning is deafening and keeps the room at about 90% humidity, ensuring damp towels or clothes never dry out. All of that I could forgive, based on the price, but the staff is entirely unwilling to work with customers. If they are not legally obligated to do something, forget it. They're not interested in serving customers at all; no changes will be made. If you have the foresight to work ahead, the staff will hide behind bureaucracy to waste time until you leave. Escalating from local management to the "regional manager" will never bear fruit, and working top down by filing a complaint with the national Howard Johnson customer service won't get you a call back either. Good luck. Stay somewhere else.

Pros: The staff
Location: shopping , stadiums, airport-2 miles, restaurants.
This hotel is more like a motel. Did not fell safe at all. There were questionable characters roaming the very opened compound that is opened up to some dodgy looking back street. The microwave, and fridge did not work, plus they were very outdated including the TV. Bathroom floor was wet and not very clean. I think the entire place is outdated. I would not recommend to anybody. The staff however; was very friendly and helpful -(nice people), they were the best thing about the hotel/motel.
