The staff members are quite nice, and I love that the hotel has a free shuttle to take you to places near by, but the rooms are old and in need of some major renovations. I also had a kill a little roach that was hanging out in the bathtub on my first day.

Outdated Building

Posted Feb 26, 2015
Pros: The location was convenient, the beds were comfortable
Cons: A serious overhaul and renovation is needed. Sound-proofing in the walls and floors, new carpeting, paint and updated bathrooms
Location: You can walk/run/jog along the river. It's right off 275 and walking distance to several arts/music attractions
I knew when I booked the Barrymore Hotel that it was rated 3.4 out of 5 and to not expect a typical business-class hotel. Cons: The building was disappointing. Everything seemed like it was last updated in the 1980s. The rooms and corridors weren't sound-proofed, so we could hear everything going on nearby in the hotel. We were disappointed that the pool wasn't heated, and weren't told where the pool and exercise room were but with some investigation, we were able to find them. Our room keys didn't work on two separate occasions, even though we didn't put them next to our phones. Parking was a challenge on the weekend, as the lot filled up at night, although it didn't seem to be an issue if people "created" parking spots where able. Pros: The staff was excellent - quick and friendly service. The beds were very nice and comfortable. The north-facing rooms have a very nice view of the river and riverwalk.

Very disappointing

Posted Feb 24, 2015
Pros: The security lady was nice, free parking was nice.
Cons: Everything from the maintenance of the interior rooms to the falsely advertised "high speed" Wi-Fi to the key card machines on the doors.
We booked two rooms (3-4 people per room) for a bachelor party weekend. The front desk clerk accommodated us with 2 rooms right next to one another 613 and 615. It took about 30 minutes to get us booked for some reason. While 3 of us were hanging out in the (613) room, the door opened and a group of 4 women said we were in their room. They booked the same room twice. The room was clean for the most part, the beds are horrible, they're so used and abused that it felt like being on a waterbed. The bathroom faucet was hanging off of the wall, the tub was dirty, and the toilet had a crack in its side. We came back at 4am and with our luck, the key card wasn't working. Went downstairs, got it re-magnetized, went back up, still not working. With the help of the security lady, we finally managed to get in at 5am. Asked for a manager at the front desk only to get a response of "well you booked through a third party website (Expedia) so we wouldn't be able to refund you anyway." Overall the hotel sucks other than the initial front desk clerk being nice and the security lady. Also, don't even bother with the Wi-Fi.

Good location

Good location and If going on a cruise from Tampa close to port. Hotel is just beside Riverwalk and 30 minute walk to Tampa bay with shops and restaurants. Can also take trolley not far from there and go to Ybor. Restaurant at hotel is not recommended and service is terrible, especially at bar in the evening. Got ignored by two ladies working at the bar and bar was not busy.

Nice rooms but....

Rooms are connected with other rooms so you can hear everything clearly from next door.
