Loved my stay in the hotel portion. The room was tiny, but under bed storage was plentiful, and there were lots of comfortable places to sit in the common areas. One star left off for facilities because the elevator does not go to every floor and I had to carry my heavy bag up and down the stairs. If you require the elevator make sure you inform them before your stay so they can put you on a floor with elevator service. The location is close to the train and bus stations, also close to the Nokia Arena, which is what I was in town for. Highly recommend for anyone on a budget, but also in general for anyone who wants a nice place to sleep during their visit to Tampere.

Well-functioning modern hostel in the city center
I stay at this hostel regularly on my family visits to Tampere and am always delighted with the excellent, friendly service, good beds, modern well-functioning common kitchen and, affordable pricing for a decent accommodation within a walking distance from any point of interest in the city centre. The only thing that could be improved at times is cleanliness, which is not always as good as it could be.

Rooms very small and cramped, especially twin rooms which had no windows. The double room was so small you could barely get down both sides of the bed! The weather was very hot and the air conditioning was useless. The heat was unbearable. We asked for a fan but none was provided.The towells provided were small and very thin. The lift did not service the second floor so we had to carry cases up the stairs. The hotel is not in the centre of Tampere and a bus/good walk takes you to the main street. On the plus side, the beds were extremely comfortable and the rooms were very clean. continental breakfast was good.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good. The room was minimal and simple. some dust on the shelf. The wall was very thin, we heard neighbor sneezing.....

it was a great valued stay with sauna across from the building. Breakfast was also included. How come the basic bread and butter tastes so delicious. Room was tiny but clean and had great common space which I would prefer. You are in the room just to sleep anyway.

Very good stay, quite charming independent hotel.
Stayed in hotel on the first floor rather than the hostel. Great compact room and ensuite. Very clean and light. Good mattress and slept very well. Common area with kitchen facilities and ironing board really and convivial. Breakfast buffet across the road at Tullin Sauna was very good and varied. Location was just a few minutes walk from train station. Tampere is very easy to navigate and everything is really within walking distance. Would definitely recommend as alternative to larger chain hotels.

Meet interesting and well traveled people
If you don’t mind sharing with other travelers and enjoying their company this may not be for you. I found the experience welcoming and different. Even met a chap who was cycling the continents. Wow a bike and couple off satchels. Hat off to this young man. If your staying for more than two nights would recommend trying to get a single room.

faulty locks on room door and bathroom door. almost got locked out of my room/inside the bathroom multiple times. hardly ever anybody at reception if I needed help. check in was on the opposite building and I had to drag my suitcase over the entrance steps.

Hi! Sorry to hear that your stay was not as pleasant as it could be. Our reception is now at Tullin Sauna, which is located across the street of the accommodation. On opening hours there is always staff available to help you with anything you need. The reception on the accomodation side is our old reception and that's why there is no staff all the time but only "visiting". Also in need of help with the lugagge, our staff is ready if you just ask. Welcome to stay with us again!

Good hostel but needs some basic improvements
Good size rooms and kitchen; reception area is across street from rooms; close to train and bus stations; lack of hot water; refrigerator smelly with people’s abandoned food; kitchen needs more/better resources so people can adequately wash their plates/cups, etc. (pots, utensils, cutting boards grimy/greasy)

Thanks for your review! It seems that you enjoyed your stay! :) We clean our fridges once a week, so it might have been that you have visited just before we have cleaned it! :). There are dishbrush and sponge with washing up liquid which our guests can use to clean their plates. :)

average - staff needs to be trained
nice stay, but staff needs to be trained in dealing with frequent travelers. price service level/room quality did not match up in comparing hotel prices and hotels attached to hostels. don't expect any special wishes to be fulfilled - all seems to be according a rule-book, and exceptions are not acceptable. It's possible to find a real hotel in tampere for the same price. but please, improve the service for frequent travelers, which pay hotel prices!

Trendy, clean and relaxing
This is probably the best hostel I've stayed at so far. I stayed in an ensuite room on their "hotel" floor. They did a great job adopting a space that seems like an office building to have rooms. My room (scandinavian design) was like a pod in the middle corridor of the space so unfortunately did not have a window but right outside of it there was a nice hanging chair next to the heater and a view outside so no window in the room itself wasn't a biggie. The kitchen area right next to it was also really cosy and clean. I generally don't spend time in common areas but since it was really quiet during the time I was there that's where I spent most my time. There's only 1 small induction plate stove so this could be tough if a lot of people wanted to cook but this was not the case this time. Other than that the kitchen is very well equipped and even has free tea and coffee! The room had a hair dryer and a small (good) selection of books you could read. By the lobby there's also a small library and board game cabinet. The included breakfast buffet was not huge but had the essentials (bread, cheese, yoghurt and toppings, juices, tea and coffee). Maybe some fruit would've been a nice addition, especially for those with diet restrictions (I might have missed this though as I wasn't looking for fruit during breakfast lol). Staff was all really nice and they even offered free coffee to someone that had just arrived and was waiting for check-in time. In sum, loved my stay :)

Hostel is okay, the hotel great
We stayed for one night with a friend in a hostel room for two. The room was tidy as were the showers. The bed is not very comfortable and the pillow was a borderline joke so I wouldn't recommend this for a long term stay. Earlier I stayed at the hotel part of Dream Hostel and it was marvellous. Our room was opposite of reception and the walls were thin so you could hear everything in your room. With this price we would have appreciated if we didn't have to put the sheets on ourselves. The area is tidy, perfect for events in Tampere Hall or Pakkahuone. With some new pillows and mattresses this would be even better.
