Pleasant stay

Posted Mar 23, 2015
Pros: The helpfulness of the staff
Cons: maybe updating a little
Location: the location is great. It is an easy on/off from route 80 and near many sightseeing activities.
We had a pleasant stay at this hotel. We did have an issue with a pipe breaking in our room and they needed to shut off the water to the sink in the bathroom because they didn't have the parts needed to fix the issue and they had no rooms to move us to available. But the service department was wonderful and tried to help us as much as possible and the manager was on top of the situation and was extremely helpful and concerned about our stay. This was an unforeseen circumstance and they handled it very quickly and professionally. I would recommend this hotel especially since they we so helpful with this issue. The room was clean, maybe a little outdated but still comfortable.

Breakfast not good. Prefer indoor hotels compared to hotels with outside doors. Not very spacious

Wouldn't go back even for the price

Posted Mar 13, 2015
Experience was horrible, ice everywhere, stunk inside so bad we had to change rooms. No up to date, kids wondered why the tv was so small after they asked why there was a big box around it and couldn't figure out why the sink wasn't in the bathroom instead it was by the door. I explained in a crappy hotel you need to wash your hands when you leave it!

We came for check in late night around 9pm with two small kids. The room was very cold. I mean very very cold considering 5F outside. Heater didn't work properly, so it warmed up room only by the morning. Bedding was dirty, but we had to wear everything warm we had to sleep. Never ever will go back again.

Close to resort

Overall it's ok and the location is convenience either to ski or snow tubing. The cool thing is you can grab your breakfast in few meters.

Solid option for those on a budget

Posted Feb 21, 2015
Pros: It's cheap, comfortable, and the location is great. Great value.
Cons: First room smelled. Internet is SLOW. Broken lights. Towels aren't soft. I could feel the springs in the fold up bed and the wool comforter pilled
Location: Camelback resort! Lots of skiing trails, snowtubing, and even a waterpark just minutes away. It's right off Interstate 80 so it's super easy to get to
Clean, comfortable, we got everything we asked for. We stayed two nights for $89 each. It includes breakfast for 5. The toilet blocked and overflowed in the first room but we were quickly moved to a second. All it took was a quick call to the front desk. It was below freezing outdoors but the heating was adequate and the water was hot. The buffet-style breakfast was nothing spectacular but the food tasted good and I was able to eat my fill and get good service at 7:30 am. We parked our car right outside the door so everything could be loaded and unloaded quickly. People uncomfortable with parking on slopes might have a problem though, the parking area adjacent to our room was on a steep slope. The staff were responsive, polite (one only spoke Spanish though), and I enjoyed my stay there. I don't know why people rated this hotel so badly. It's not fancy but I think it's a great option for travelers who need a place to stay.

Bring your sense of humor-and a roll of duct tape

Posted Feb 18, 2015
Pros: Location. Breakfast worked too.
Cons: Overhaul the rooms.
Location: Skiing, shopping, eating. The place is very well situated.
I picked this place for the location - close to Camelback Mountain for a couple of days of skiing. It is very convenient, being right off of Route 80. It was also the most reasonably priced for a couple of days over the Presidents' Day holiday week. Breakfast was included and it was simple and tasty (oatmeal, cereals, eggs, bread). To say the place is run-down would be an understatement. To say the room needed improvement wouldn't even come close. The front door was so out of line (it looked like someone tried to knock it down) that the cold February air could be felt blowing in from six feet away. That's where the duct tape came in - taped all around the door to keep the wind out. On the plus side, the street leading down hill from the hotel was plowed and salted quite well. Otherwise I could imagine the cars sliding down onto the main street below.

A Bit Grim

Posted Feb 18, 2015
Pros: All that said, the Tandoor Palace Indian restaurant next door is excellent and was a big part of the reason I decided to go back there.
Cons: Rooms need a facelift, new linens and new housekeeping standards.
Had stayed here regularly probably 5 years ago as an inexpensive hotel close to skiing. It has gone significantly downhill since then (no pun intended!). Room was not ready over an hour after check-in time and I was told grouchily by the cleaner that I would have to wait another hour. After getting a different room, found it very shabby -- mirror stained, wallpaper in bathroom peeling, very large gap in front door, carpeting frayed, smell very, very bad (my son thought we had a smoking room), sheets very thin and grey, trash on floor next to bed (including a chunk of a Dorito), hair in bathtub, dim lighting.

Smoking room

Posted Feb 9, 2015
Expedia never made it known I was purchasing a room that was smoking. When I got to the hotel they were sold out and could not change my room to non smoking. The room smelled horrendous and ruined our stay there. Expedia should be more clear about smoking and non smoking.
