"Great stay in Taormina"
What a stunning apartment. The decor and artwork were lovely. We had a fully equipped kitchen including microwave and dishwasher. The bedroom was upstairs but has a second toilet upstairs as well as a full bathroom downstairs. There was a lovely shady garden to relax in. The apartment is almost in the Duomo Square so perfectly located for getting anywhere in Taormina. The town itself is beautiful with amazing views, although so overwhelmed by tourists it's hard to find the " real Italy". We prefer the smaller out of the way places with few tourists but Taormina is a must see and this is a perfect place to stay for this.

"Very good hotel right off the Corso"
A very enjoyable short stay in a hotel of good - if modern - design. The place is conveniently located close to the Corso Umberto and within very close reach of all the places of interest in Taormina. The staff was very knowledgeable (Svetlana particularly so) about the places and restaurants to go to. The SpA was also very good. If one thing could be improved I'd recommend heating up the pool. That would really make it exceptional!

"Good location to Taormina centre, wonderful views"
We had an excellent holiday in Taormina and found this hotel to be an excellent base for the town. It had wonderful views over the bay and of Etna. These you were able to enjoy from the top floor breakfast room. Breakfast was fine but not the most exciting in the world. For British tastes probably too much sweet stuff, and would have appreciated a wider range of bread or even toast. The room we had was a garden view, as someone said previously, more a tennis court view. Again no complaints only a few moans in that it had a "quirky" over the bath shower and the hanging space was very high. They had a pole to help you hang your clothes up and down. I had to resort to using the bathroom stool to reach. the plus was excellent wifi and the beach resort. Although you had to be transferred the journey itself was interesting. The best part was the staff who were very helpful and its position. Within minutes you were in the town centre and all the facilities. The bus station was just a short distance away as well. All in all would recommend this hotel and will return again. Next time we would upgrade to a sea view room and advise others to do the same.

"Spectacular setting; an idyllic holiday"
Mount Etna dominates the vista of Hotel Villa Sonia- a powerful and spectacular volcano that impacts on everyday life in this area of Sicily. The view is majestic and sensational, and one which you enjoy at breakfast, at the pool and in their fabulous jacuzzi. Just up some steps is the exquisite Castelmola- a hill-top village where the views are breathtaking. It also boasts reasonably priced fantastic restaurants (more so than in Taormina), either in an exquisite open air courtyard, or with panoramic views of the volcano. The food as always in Sicily, is sumptuous. Down a perilously curving road is the picture postcard town of Taormina, which has a wonderful Roman theatre, and many elegant churches. The coast has many lovely beaches, but we chose to concentrate on the historical sights of Syracuse- which are quite remarkable, not least the substantial remains of 15,000 seat amphitheatre. Mount Etna dominates the culture, and we took the 'Around Etna' hop on and off bus tour (30 euros) to the top, where you pass by extensive lava fields, and really start to appreciate the power of this mighty volcano. On the slopes lies the historic town of Randazzo , where there is a large church constructed out of the lava. We considered hiring a car, but there is a good and regular bus stop on the hour outside the hotel, and the hotel also offers a free shuttle bus a certain times of the day. Once in Taormina, various tours are offered which effectively take you around the region. T

Very good check in experience - Attentive staff all very pleasant If staying longer than four or five nights menu not very extensive - although the portions are large. Travelling as a couple - no sockets near a mirror in the bedroom - so had to wait until the bathroom was free and even then had to stand as now where it sit?

    Taormina, Messina Hotel Guide

A balcony setting on Mount Tauro with a sweeping view of Sicily’s coastline and Mount Etna gives Taormina its lasting appeal. It is Sicily’s only truly international resort, much-favoured by celebrities. The old quarter’s steep, narrow alleys are filled with window boxes and painted pottery, and best explored on foot. Main sights are the classical remains and Renaissance palaces. The Greco-Roman theatre is still used for concerts and festivals.
