El Monte Sagrado is a special place with a very grounding, peaceful energy. The ambience caters to a meditative space, conducive to connection with nature through a number of cultures, most prominently Native American.
The resort's architecture is very traditionally New Mexico, with the territorial style of wooden vigas, stucco adobe-looking buildings, and long outdoor corridors surrounded by lawns, trees, and meandering ponds.
The lobby is spectacular, with a spiral and giant citrine crystal in the ceiling, a fireplace to sit by, and the bar and restaurant are just inside.
The greenhouse atrium and pool / hot tub area are simply amazing! Relaxing amongst the greenery was idyllic.
The resort is a short 1/2 mile to the Taos Plaza area if shopping and restaurants are your thing. It's a great home base to explore the area. We actually chose to stay here over Ojo Caliente this trip so we could be in town.
We will definitely return for another relaxing 4-day stay!
