Pros: Grounds, views, room
Cons: Surcharges for everything
Location: Great
Very nice hotel, way over priced, nickel & dime to death, fees for everything. Hotel is beautiful. Take extra money. Staff were great.

A+ Customer Service & Spa Faciities
Posted Jan 5, 2013
Pros: Service - Zak at front desk :)
Location: Beautiful location in Taos New Mexico
Continually book this hotel while in Taos. The Spa here is amazing and I really can't say enough about the customer service. Zak at the front desk goes above and beyond. Thank you so much for taking such good care.

Wonderful facility and staff. My one objection, and it is a big one, is that they charge extra for everything. I thought my room had been prepaid but on departing, the room fees just about doubled the cost of the room. They also add on for wi-fi, wireless, and other things that other hotels provide without extra charge. The also charge for parking. All in, the cost of the room was twice the advertised price.

Great for a relaxing getaway

Pros: The decor of the room
Cons: The gym was small and there were children allowed in
Location: A quick drive from downtown
My only complaints are that the gym is very small and the hot tub was not functional during our stay. Our room was amazing and the staff was extremely polite and helpful. Would return.

One of the best hotels in Taos
Posted Jan 3, 2013
We stayed in the 1 bedroom with a pull-out-sofa. The room was nicely furnished and had a large bathroom. There were only 3 of us. I think any thing over four would require a larger room. The pool and hot tub were excellent after hitting the ski slopes! Overall we really enjoyed our stay.

First time in Taos,,, Great hotel option!
Posted Jan 26, 2013 on Hotels.com
This was our first time in Taos and we were there to ski. Although the location is not ideal for hitting the slopes it is one of if not the best option in the area. The hotel is very nice and rooms are clean and as pictured, The staff was very helpful and friendly. The rate is not on the cheapest but we believed it was within reason for the quality. We highly recommend this hotel if visiting Taos.

We loved the restaurant, but thought the room was noisy and the tv selections very limited. The staff was friendly except for the receptionists at the spa. We decided not to use the spa because of her unhelpful and discourteous responses.

Great hotel, restaurant needs work

El Monte Sagrado is a beautiful surprise tucked into a quiet Taos neighborhood. The rooms are modern with touches of the old west. The staff is friendly, helpful and well-informed. However I do have two complaints. The parking lot is very difficult to maneuver on weekends and you must rely on valet parking. Normally this would not be a problem, but if you are coming and going a lot as we were to meet friends in a different part of town, it was somewhat of a hassle. But the parking attendents were friendly and handled the overcrowding well. Also I felt the dinner we had one evening in the hotel restaurant was not equal to our expectations. Being somewhat of a foodie, I felt my haddock was dry and overcooked. And all three entrees that arrived at our table had the same accompaniments although the menu descriptions had been different. One of my companions ordered the bisque and found it to be excessively salty. Overall I felt the entrees were uninspired, lacked creativity and were overpriced. But my salad and dessert were both well done and flavorful. The restaurant itself is decorated beautifully. If our meal had been on par with the rest of our experience, I would have given this hotel a "5".

The people at El Monte Sagrado are five star as well as all the facilities. They were very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The rooms are beautiful and very comfortable. The resteraurants are great and state of the art gym. The indoor pool and hot tub are gorgeous. We can't wait to return.
