Beautiful old building a short walk from Taos Plaza. Quiet, clean, lovely room with lots of mission-style ambiance. The grounds are beautifully landscaped, the dining room has refreshments in the evening, and the included breakfast was delicious: egg frittata, fruit tart, smoothie, thick cut bacon, strong coffee.
The hosts were simply wonderful- helping us find a dinner reservation after our late arrival, even while fiesta was going on.

Love the hotel grounds and our rooms (one each for two couples) with fireplaces were very nice with very comfortable beds. Each room even came with a bundle of firewood and a starter log. The location is great as it's an easy walk to the Taos plaza, with lots of shopping, galleries and dining nearby. The hotel also provides a reasonably nice continental breakfast.

We stayed two nights. There was a festival in town during our stay. We woke up the am we were to leave and someone had let the air out of all our tires! Now, this is also a Sunday morning, in a small town. Luckily, Joe on the desk called to see where we could find new tires if needed, and John, a mgr. got a compressor, pulled the tires off the car, checked them for leaks, put them back on the car and filled with air! Now, I call that above and beyound the call of duty.

Staff was wonderful. When they realized we had been placed in a smoking rather than non-smoking room, they moved us immediately, upgrading us at no charge. The complimentary cooked breakfast was also a treat. Wonderful setting.

Check in was a delight. Desk clerk was very pleasant to deal with. At the time she was the only one at the desk and there were several people waiting to be served. Her attitude was one of friendliness and helpfulness despite being very very busy. The room was very nice, although somewhat smaller than I had anticipated. It met my needs well. I would suggest a microwave be made available however.

We ( 3 adults, 2 4 years olds) stayed here for a Spring Break ski trip. I had called the hotel to inquire about some of the older reviews that indicated poor upkeep, and was assured that those issues had been taken care of. My expectations were very low, but we just needed an inexpensive, central place to sleep. Boy was I surprised! The hotel had more of a bed and breakfast feel, primarily because of the hospitality of the entire hotel staff, from the manager to the cleaning staff. Without exception, everyone we saw smiled and spoke to us. Our room was very comfortable, and spotless. Great beds, and a super- hot power-shower. Breakfast was hot and tasty (great coffee!), and varied from morning to morning. With everyone trying to get to slopes early, the breakfast room was usually full, but they never let the amount of food run low, nor did you have to wait for anything (important when getting two 4 year olds fed and out the door). The indoor pool and hot tub were clean and well maintained. The thing that surprised and pleased me the most was how quickly management took care of an issue we had with a group of spring break partiers beneath us. After our first call someone from management was there in just a few minutes. The second night when the late night door slamming started, someone from management was there within minutes to relocate these people, allowing us a peaceful night sleep. I would recommend Don Fernando to anyone staying in Taos.
