“Not what I expected”
It was mentioned that the hotel was renewed, but in reality it is not that renewed. To use the pool area you can forget it: too crowded with kids and not really nice. Breakfast: not to the stardards, quite mediocre. The worse was the elevators: there are two elevators which did not work all the time (just one at a time, sometimes none of them). I have to take tthe stairs to my nine floor.
“A week in Tel Aviv”
My fiance and I stayed at the Grand Beach for a week this past August. It was his first time in Tel Aviv and I wanted to be close to the beach and within walking distance to restaurants and local bars. I stayed at the Grand Beach last summer and remembered it being a decent hotel at a decent price so I chose it again. This time the hotel seemed crowded with French families and we somehow ended up on the floor with all the kids. The noise levels on our floor were terrible and the kids left garbage everywhere including the elevator. It was gross. The elevators in this hotel are really small and old. There are only 3 elevators and one was out of order our entire stay. On the weekends (Friday night through Saturday) one of the 2 working elevators was on a Shabbat clock which meant that only 1 elevator was working properly. It could take 20 minutes until we were able to get on. (We would have walked but we were on the 8th floor!) The breakfast is good. Standard Israeli breakfast though the restaurant got very crowded at times so we woke up an hour earlier to beat the "last minute" rush. It is a good place to stay at as long as you don't plan on spending all day there. It's a place to sleep at and have breakfast before exploring the city and going to the beach.
“I will return for sure”
It is a very conformatble and clean hotel. People from front desk was really very nice and trying to help in whatever I needed. The location is fine with the beach only 1 block from the hotel. Very peaceful and nice. I will return to this hotel without hesitation
“great for what we needed!”
This hotel was more than what we expected for a three star facility. They were accomodating and service oriented. The location was great for shopping, beach, and restaurants. The breakfasts were great! I'd go here again for sure.
“Fix the lifts!”
Of the 3 lifts, 1 is in the process of being overhauled and during our stay the second lift was dedicated to Shabbat users (on the Fri/Saturday). This left the balance of the residents to using 1 lift or the stairs. Otherwise a great location for a budget stay in Tel Aviv.
“Great location. Basic hotel features but nice and clean”
For what I was looking for, the hotel was perfect. It was close to the beach and situated in a great little neighbourhood - lots of shops and restaurants nearby. The hotel amenities were basic but clean. The hotel staff were friendly. i would go back!!
“Pros and Cons”
I first stayed in the Grand Beach Hotel in July 2009. Everything was great (except for the twin beds in the room - ever hear of double beds?). The hotel staff were all very nice and helpful. Location was great. The breakfast was excellent! There is also a nice quiet lounge that I very much enjoyed. I recently returned in March 2011, and was a little less satisfied. I stayed on a different floor (11th) and one very memorable negative thing was the bathroom. The toilet was ridiculoulsy close to the wall making it very uncomfortable to use, and I am not an overweight person! Quite honestly, a "full figured" person would have to ask for another room. I was able to sneak a peak at another room on the same floor and saw it had the same problem. Also the hair dryer in the bathroom was worthless! Otherwise the breakfast was still excellent (kudos to Jack the waiter - who looks like the conductor of the school band on the Simpsons!!). The room was clean and modern with a little refrigerator that WORKED!! Although my above comments gave me some disappointment, I would still be willing to recommend this hotel.
“Stay Away!!!!”
I just arrived at this hotel today at 4am. This is my first time in Israel and my first encounter with the hotel attendant set the tone for my dislike of this hotel. First impressions mean a lot to me and this guy, did not display good customer service. I arrived going up the ramp with 3 bags of luggage to the door. They made me walk around to the regular door, which was a real inconvenience since they saw me struggling with my bags. While the attendant was helping me to check-in, he carried on an entire conversation with a friend who was hanging out at the hotel. The only time I got his attention was when he asked me a question. That irked the heck out of me and I thanked him for his excellent customer service skills. Second, the elevator was so small, I could barely fit myself and my luggage through the door and I am not fat at all. Third, I walk into my hotel room and the carpet is stained so bad, it looked liked it has never been cleaned. Fourth, the bed sheets looked like it came out of someones apartment. Fifth, the vent was open in the ceiling where you could see all the construction work being performed. The room smelled and the bathroom didn't look like the pics on expedia. I immediately booked a room at the Renaissance Tel Aviv Hotel for the same morning and I called expedia to cancel my reservation with the Grand Beach Hotel. I have never written a bad review but this hotel needed it. They were classfied as a 3 1/2 star hotel but really it should be 2 star.
