Hostel isn't a spelling mistake

Don't be fooled by the photos. The main house is beautiful from the outside but you won't go in there unless your collecting your keys from a grumpy and unwelcoming reception desk. Your room is in an annex. We couldn't have dinner as we hadn't booked it previously, despite arriving at 1700, the receptionist didn't even call to try. No mention of facilities or locations just a thrust of a key. On reflection we were really happy with that decision as when we joined the teenage queue for the school type hotplate breakfast the following morning and the rationed, 1 bacon one sausage was slopped onto the plate and we then tried to find a secluded 2 seat spot to sit down at, we were over come by the tracksuited, flip flop wearing, ill mannered gangs of youths at we tried to join. Accommodation full of noisy kids. Coffee in paper cups, cutlery from a motorway service station, poor customer service. Sadly the most pleasurable part of the stay was the dinner we had at the end of 1 1/2 mile walk down the drive to the pub outside the front gates. £85 poorly spent, it really was a hostel, albeit a very expensive and impressive looking one from the outside.
