“mildew in basement room”

I have stayed here before and was very satisfied, so I booked again. This time, however, I was given a room in a basement. This room smelled profoundly of mildew. I called the office to complain. They, then, gave me another room, but the interaction with the office help was, initially, rude, impatient, and mocking. I was disconcerted by this treatment. The new room was satisfactory, but the whole experience, overall, was not. I won't go back.

“Great place to stay”

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was great. I really liked having a refrigerator and a microwave in my room. The washer and dryer on-site came in handy as well. All in all, this is the kind of hotel I like to stay in.

Area recommendations
The town is only a couple of blocks long. Lots of neat touristy places. It was distressing to see so many resturants closed down. There was a nice, if small, grocery store in town. You've got to go to Ridgeway or there abouts if you really need stuff.

“A great place to stay”

friendly, close to all activities; since no breakfast is included, they give a coupon for reduced buffet at nearby resturant and it is great!!!

“Very enjoyable stay”

Very nice location. staff was friendly. Room was very nice with good amenities hope to return someday.

Area recommendations
The Chalet Inn is in the center of Ouray. the perfect location. We walked the entire main street from the Inn.

“don't stay here”

I hope this wasn't a typical Expedia experience. The room was tiny with one bed (for 2 adults) & only a stand-up shower in a very small bathroom. The room was down a flight of stairs--no elevator, so all bags had to be carried down and back up. No breakfast provided. For this, we paid a lot more and got a lot less than any booking we have ever made. Thank goodness we had only reserved it for one night!

“Best affordable hotel in Ouray!”

Great place. Not upscale, but very comfortable...and clean. Owners very helpful. Love the funky jazz music in the rooms when you enter (Muzak) that can be turned on or off with a switch. Adequate parking for guests. Within easy walking distance of most everything in town.

“Mountain Cathedral!”

Wonderful town and wonderful people. Truly one of the most beautiful places in the whole world! Great Craft Beer and food across the street at Ouray Brewery! More great beer at Ourayale House!

“Can't wait to go back!”

Perfectly located hotel. Enables you to park your car once and spend the rest of your visit walking around town for all hiking, hot springs, shopping and dining experiences.

Must see
Must see Box Canyon Water Fall
Dining
Must dine at Buen Tiempo. Go light on dinner so you can enjoy not one, but two, sopapillas.
Nightlife
Be sure to stop by the Ouray Brewery and swing at the bar while enjoying a locally brewed beer.
